Arrows from Zion 4/25/2018

Priority Prayer Focus

Do you feel the intensity of battle surrounding you? If you don't then I'm happy for you, but please lift up the arms of those of us who are feeling the pressure big time right now. One of the things that made the apostle Paul my favorite writer in the Bible is because he was just real about things.

"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body."

Paul did not feel the pressure to put on a facade like so many ministry leaders today do, of being on top of the world, faith oozing from every pore. Don't get me wrong: It is important for us to be buoyed by our faith when we find ourselves dogpaddling with all we can muster in a stormy sea of life.  As important for us to speak that God's Word says instead of what the circumstances look like, it is also important to be able to get real, to let people know when we are in dire straits. There is no shame in that, in fact, it often means that what we are doing is what Satan is in full fury about and trying to stop.

There are some spirit-crushing needs in the body of Messiah. Let's be discerning and lift up those we see are in the heat of battles.

Arrows from Zion
Summarized from the Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests Israeli Ministries
By subscription only arrowsfromzion@ gmail.com

Ron Cantor leads us off this week with an amazing testimony from their Tel Aviv congregregation, Tiferet Yeshua, as told by pastor Gil Afriat. The title kind of says it all: When nearly 50 Orthodox Jewish Young Ladies come to hear about Yeshua

Also Ron's personal ministry, Messiah's Mandate is hosting Israel tours that goes beyond the usual tour of where Jesus walked, but also reveals where He is walking today, please reach out to us.

From the Dugit Messianic Outreach Centre, a ministry of Avi Mizrachi, they write: "We believe the future of the USA is connected to the destiny of Israel! .... A few months ago in Israel, we celebrated 50 years of the unification of our capital, Jerusalem. We feel that we have entered a new season spiritually. As you know, 50 in the Bible means Jubilee. This month we are celebrating 70 years of independence. 70 typically refers to the human age based on Israel's exile in Babylon. We believe that these 70 years represent completion and are moving into a new season. These anniversaries are a time for Spiritual restoration for Israel. Our prayer is that the Church will no longer turn their eyes from this land of Promise. As we press in to see revival in Israel we expect to see the effects in the USA and around the world."

In this issue of the
Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests of Israeli Ministries, we share an article by David Lazarus of the Beit Immanuel Congregation in the ancient port city of Jaffa. David writes about "Our Courageous Normalcy," asking and answering the question, " Where do the Israelis find the courage to maintain a "normal" life amidst the daily struggle for survival?" He writes, " The development of a normalized society in Israel cannot be explained by our confidence in the strength of our army, even after winning five major wars against all other Arab nations. Nor can it be attributed to our ability to withstand unending terrorism these seven decades. Peace and security for us is not a lack of conflict. Rather it is the heroic ability to maintain our routines while under fire. ... But the glory of Israel goes far beyond our ability to survive. "

From Revive Israel - this video was not included in the ministry letter this week, but it was so timely for me, I know it will be for many others as well: Asher Intrater in an 8 1/2 video teaching, How to Pray when Attacked. What did come in the Revive Israel email was this video teaching from Asher on The Gift of Prophecy and a Cody Archer, Ron Cantor and Jonathan Moore — three of the young men who have stepped into this generation of ministry leadership are featured in this Revive-Live video, a new Facebook video series.

Revive also features a ministry that is a Messianic congregation and rehabilitation center in Jerusalem called Beit HaYeshua, the House of Salvation founded by Tsvi Rendelman with the help of Roni Rejwan and Oleg Vilensky. In the Weekly Summary subscription, I also give my high recommendations for Asher's book, Alignment - which is essentially the alignment of Jew and Gentile  in the one new man before the coming return of the Messiah.

Here is some amazing news that Howard Bass started off his ministry letter with: Pouring rain in Negev (and also in Jerusalem we heard) which is great for this time of year. Praise the Lord! Israel is dependent upon the rain that God gives, and when God gives Israel rain, it is truly a blessing He bestows.

Howard also writes, "Israel is given as an example to the Church:  the God of Israel is the God of the Church. Yeshua, the King of Israel, is Jesus, the Head of the Body of Christ in all things. There is no difference as to who He is; there are distinctions between who Israel and the Church are, even though there is also a connection."  He has similar thoughts in the new series of Peter's epistles: "Peter was/is the Apostle to the Jews and the Messianic Jews, too.  He tells us how to live in holiness and righteousness in a world hostile to the Kingdom of God, and in the face of severe persecutions against the believers in the King of God's Kingdom.  He is speaking to us today of things to come."

Shlomy and Miriam Abramov of Awake Israel Ministries in Rishon le Zion is fresh off of a month in the USA and are announcing their new mission organization, Impact World Missions for inside and outside of Israel.  "Pray for us," they write, "as we feel God leading us to many more nations now and believe he wants us to share in current events as they relate to unfolding prophecy. " Their report includes how many are being impacted by Shlomy's testimony book (he was Ariel Sharon's body guard back in the day), and their outreaches to the needy in Israel with clothing and food.

Here is a report from Tel Aviv Maoz Ministries —Ari and Shira Sorko-Ram —about their Music Making for Kids program that has helped dozens of children with music studies.  Some of those kids now serve on worship teams in their congregations. Watch the video and donate here.

Tikkun International, which is under the lead of Asher Intrater, Eitan Shishkoff and Daniel Juster, are introducing a new ministry in the Tikkun global messianic family: "Spreading the Word - Online" will be reaching out to the nations to encourage reading and study of the Bible. Using text, audio and video to offer maximum accessibility and ease of use, we will be offering a number of innovative approaches to daily, weekly and guided reading of the Bible to help and encourage churches, congregations, leaders and individuals to "get into the Bible". The ministry is being led by Jonathan Allen, who has been part of the Tikkun family for nearly twenty years, faithfully serving as Tikkun webmaster since 2003. Please watch this short video to hear from Jonathan personally

Sally Shiff is an intercessor and also liaison for the HaMaayan congregation in Kfar Saba. She is reporting on the busy and blessed holiday season in Israel for the past several weeks —and also her upcoming engagements in Norway in July, then the US in September, in her role as Kehilat HaMaayan liaison. She believes her message will be about Rosh Hashana, the fall holidays and Israel —and how that pertains to the Church.  If you are interested in Sally coming to speak, contact her in the Arrows from Zion email that you jumped to this link from —that's where you can find email contact information for all the ministries featured this week in Arrows from Zion. (oh! and mazal tov to ChiChi on her "bark mitzvah")

Finally, here are just a few articles that are accessible on this week's issue of KehilaNews.com

BREAKING: Israeli Messianic believer Hananya Naftali is hired by Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office | Kehila News Israel Staff | The Jerusalem Post is reporting today that Hananya Naftali, an Israeli believer in Yeshua, was hired to be the new deputy social media adviser for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Praying the Headlines

Religious Terrorist who Bombed an Israeli Messianic Family is Demanding Prison Release

- Donna Diorio April 24, 2018

Jack Tytell, who attempted in 2008 to murder a Messianic Jewish pastor and his family with a package bomb disguised as a Purim basket thinks he deserves release from jail. The religious terrorist wanted to kill the pastor of the Ariel but instead he blew up the 15-year old son who was home alone at the time. The terrorist Tytell is now on a hunger strike to make his demands heard.
But what about the boy who almost died when he opened that Purim basket at the kitchen table of his parents, David and Leah Ortiz? It is a miracle of God that Ami Ortiz survived the blast and lived to make it to the hospital. Even then doctors were not expecting him to live even for another 24 hours. Ami lived by the grace of God but still ten years later he is still going through surgeries as shrapnel pushes its way to the surface of his body.

The insult to injury part of this is that even though there was ample security video evidence to prove he planted the bomb at the Ortiz residence, Tytell was not even tried for the attempted murder of Ami Ortiz.  Israel did not want to go there — to bring into the open that irrational Jewish religious hatred that does exist so strongly against the Jews of faith in the Messiah of Israel, Yeshua, that some have even attempted to murder them. Firebombs are the usual tool, but Tytell had the know-how to produce package and pipe bombs.  Instead Jack Tytel, a religious nationalist serial murderer/terrorist, was tried for killing two Palestinians. That kind of Jewish terrorist hatred is easier to explain to Christians who support Israel.

Leah Ortiz writes about this that Tytell "
was convicted of Ami’s attempted murder. He was given two life sentences plus, as the judges read it in court, 'thirty years for other crimes including the attempted murder of Ami Ortiz.'  There was also another attempted murder charge [of Professor Zeev Sternhell] plus different kinds of charges, I don’t remember them all. The two life sentences were 60 years (here life sentence is 30 years) plus the additional 30 years, he got 90 years in jail. The judges mentioned us I believe because we had been there for all the hearings."
You may have never heard the story of this attempted murder of a Messianic family in Ariel. If you haven't, I invite you to read the 2009 series I wrote about it called Expose (pdf) or online here.
In my view, the audacity of Jack Tytell to seek release from prison is on the same level as the attempt of the Holy Land Foundation Five to sway public opinion about the "injustice" of their 2008 convictions for material support of the terrorist group Hamas. Terrorists should be put to death after convicted because even Super Max prisons are too good for them.
I believe that terrorism is terrorism is terrorism. Some say,  'One man's terrorist being another man's freedom fighter.' Terrorism is not relative, it is murder to a higher degree than even first degree criminal murder. It is murder for ideology and cannot be excused for any reasons.  Israel must do the right thing and not allow Jack Tytell any additional rights or release from prison. Jack Tytell must serve his full sentence. He is unrepentant and Ami Ortiz, only one of Tytell's victims, deserves at least that much justice.

WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 4/18/2018 Happy 70th, Israel!

Priority Prayer Focus Apr 18, 2018

But You, Adonai, sit enthroned forever. Your renown is from generation to generation. You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her, for the appointed time has come, for her stones are dear to Your servants, and they cherish her dust.Psalm 103:13-15

Happy 70th birthday, Israel.

Truly Zion's stones are dear to us - the Living Stones!  And we do cherish Israel's dust, for all mankind is but dust, "For you are dust, And to dust you shall return" but those whose spirits enter eternity with God through Yeshua. We do cherish all the dust of Israel - all the humanity which we are standing in faith for with the Living Stones of Israel so that "all Israel shall be saved".

Arrows from Zion
Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel
Contact info for all the ministries included inside the subscription-only Weekly Summary.

We begin this week with an update on Jerusalem Pastor Eddie Santoro who recently underwent a 2nd brain surgery in 32 months. As he writes, "in the natural, my condition is very grave." But Eddie has chosen all along to take a stand on the promises of the Lord and to believe God for a miracle - that is part of our inheritance in the Messiah and we certainly stand with him. Already Eddie has exceeded the statistics surrounding his first brain surgery according to his surgeons.  It was a brutal regimen of chemo and radiation following the first round of brain surgery, then a separate case of throat cancer, and going forward is a daunting prospect. That is probably why God has spoken to Eddie that this time, he is to rest, the battling belongs to Eddie's brothers and sisters in faith to hold up his arms so he might prevail against this cancer and live to tell multitudes in Israel of God's power to save them too.

When Eddie was reporting in his ministry letters over the past almost 3 years about his battle with cancer, he did not dwell on the extreme challenges of what he was going through. For those of us who have never seen the battle against cancer up close, it almost seemed like he was easily handling it. The truth is, the battle was intense, as it was not just a physical battle he was going through, it was also a battle over the core beliefs of Eddie's faith and understanding of eternity, and God's purposes for him.  I am writing this to encourage us all to step up to the plate so that this go round, Eddie can truly rest in the LORD and in our prayers on his behalf.

There are times when the battle has been so pitched that we do not have the strength. As Aaron and Hur held up Moses' arms so the children of Israel could prevail in the battle, this is the same type of instance. Can the believers in the nations hold up the arms of a Messianic pastor to prevail in his battle for healing, so that he can prevail and his testimony resound throughout the land? Are we in that place of intercession yet — and of faith that healing is the children's bread?

Pastor Howard Bass in Beer Sheva writes about the "wars and rumors of war" that surround Israel and even in Beer Sheva. It is unsettling, but Howard writes, "we who know the Lord can have a peace and calm that surpass understanding in the certainty that these things must be:  Jesus has told us so.  We want to build up our hope and trust in Him who loves us, so that we might be of some help and encouragement to others....
With significant dates and events abounding, so are people celebrating on the one hand, and the enemy attacking on the other."  Please read Howards article, The state of the State of Israel: The Gospel and the Body of Messiah Also, find more news from the Beer Sheva congregation and the Bass family inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Ron Cantor of Messiah's Mandate and Tiferet Yeshua has two articles you are going to want to read online: You are not God’s Temple!  and Woman gets healed at the "Gospel" mall near Jerusalem

Rachel Rechewsky Scapa, of the Kfar Saba HaMaayan congregation, has an online 24/7 radio station called Good News from Israel. She broadcasts in Hebrew, English and Portuguese with a variety of worship music, message and news reports. Recently she has partnered with GCN, the Global Christian Network. Rachel's ministry, like so many in Israel, is a labor of love she has done for many years with no support organization backing.  Please listen to her Radio Hadashot mi Israel

Christians generally support very specific types of evangelistic missions and outreach and often fail to see the value of supporting the non-traditional ministry approaches that are so essential in Israel. Israel is the most online connected nation in the world - and online is also the most comfortable place for a Jew to investigate the great taboo of Jesus.  Would that everyone knew the truth of this! It could turn around what SO MANY Israeli ministries could do to increase their reach.

Asher Intrater of Revive Israel writes about the significance of the number 70 in this 70th year of the modern state of Israel. He also has two written articles, Seven Attributes of Holiness and Why We Believe in Yeshua, plus one video with Ron Cantor and Asher discussing Crisis in the Middle East

Israel Pochtar has sent out a new quarterly report that he has launched for the extended ministries he oversees.  You can read excerpts from his report inside the subscription-only, attached Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests from Israeli Ministries. There are in-depth reports from the Jewish-Arab Reconciliation Conference he attends annually - this will really encourage you. Also reports from all of the congregations networked under his Voice of Judah ministries, plus the many outreaches they have done in the first quarter.  Pochtar is obviously running this race with all his might - and it is good for us that he is not too 'out of breath' to keep us all informed about what is going on!  I give Israel a solid 5-star rating for his dedication in ministry and in communicating that ministry to all of us.

Orna Grinman of Ot Oo’Mofet, A Sign & An Example, has two new blog articles: Each One Has a Name about those who perished in the Holocaust, and He Found Her in the Field - the prophetic passage of God finding Israel and caring for her.

Rachel and Gilad Netanel have a most unusual home that is built in a cave in Ein Karim outside of Jerusalem. It is a historic place that many tour groups are brought to see - tour groups mostly of traditional Jews. Rachel has an evangelist gift, and she and her husband are obviously blessed with a gift of hospitality to host the many large groups of people who come into their home for meals and sharing about Yeshua. As always, I will refer you to read their prayer letter inside the subscription-only, attached Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests from Israeli Ministries. One to protect what is going on specifically, and two because it is something you must read yourself to appreciate fully.

As promised from last week, I have a carryover from the ministry letter of Lebanese pastors Najeeb and Elizabeth Atteih in Haifa. They share with us the launch of a new ministry by a couple in their congregation, Essam and Widad Hilu, Beit Lahmo.  "Beit Lahmo is a phrase from the Aramaic language meaning house of bread. . . . They really have a heart for the needy and have a vision from the Lord to help provide for the needs of poor, broken, or neglected families. Already they have shared their vision and built a network through social media, such as Facebook." Please read more inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Joel and Teresa Jelski continue their training for discipleship ministry in northern Israel at the Gateways Beyond ministry on the island of Cyprus. They are preparing for a 3-week ministry trip in Ethiopia that is part of the training many young Israelis, and in fact, many young people from the nations, have received at Gateways Beyond. Please read about their experience inside the Weekly Summary attachment and consider helping them raise their funds necessary to go on the Ethiopia outreach.

Martin Sarvis in Jerusalem writes about the significance of the number 70 in scripture and in relation to the 70th Anniversary of the declaration of the State of Israel — the celebration which commences at sundown tonight in Israel. Read all of Martin's hallmark insights on this inside the Weekly Summary attachment. Also please read his appeal for strong intercession for pastor Andrew Bruson who is being held prisoner in Turkey - really as nothing more than Erdogan's blackmail of the U.S. to turn over his rival Muslim preacher Fethullah Gulen. Pastor Brunson has done nothing illegal but is a political pawn of the dictator in Turkey. Please read and prayer.

Finally, from KehilaNews.com this week, here are just a few of the many articles of interest:

What is God doing in Israel? Beer Sheva pastor Howard Bass writes about this very theme in,

Israel remembers its fallen soldiers and terrorism victims on Memorial Day. In a nation small enough that almost every family has been touched by losses, this is not just a day for picnic get-togethers.

Israel's Memorial Day: Like everything else, mourning and loss touch Messianic believers in the Land as well. We also remember today our sons, daughters, husbands, wives and friends.

One for Israel wants you to know 70 GREAT THINGS ABOUT ISRAEL!

In Loving Israel for the Wrong Reasons, Aaron Hecht writes, "many Western Christians support Israel because they think of Israel as a bastion against things that they’re profoundly afraid of and which, all too often, they hate....this shouldn’t be what motivates a Christian to support Israel"
