Priority Prayer Focus Dec 13, 2017

Today is the second day of Hanukkah. This prayer letter respects both the Jewish and the Christian traditions of the season. I believe if the intent of the heart is to honor God and His Messiah, then it is worth celebration and respect.

My own family tradition is Christmas. There is much about aspects of both traditions that is not great, but I believe the very worst is the annual arguing within the community of faith over who is screwing up the most with their celebrations of the season.

Luke 2: 28-32 Simeon received Him into his arms and offered a blessing to God, saying, “Now may You let Your servant go in peace, O Sovereign Master, according to Your word.  For my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples:  ‘A light for revelation to the nations’ and the glory of Your people Israel.”

Luke 2:34-35 Then Simeon blessed them and said to His mother Miriam: “Behold, this Child is appointed to cause the rise and fall of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed—and a sword will pierce your soul as well."

Something a little different to start off this week, from Martin Sarvis' better half, Norma. Notes from Norma shares that in this Hebrew year of 5778 they are continuing to hear that it is prophetically a year of gates and doors. " The Hebrew letter-number for “8” is the letter het, which is shaped like a door and often used to symbolize that.

She writes that doors are important in Jewish thinking and provides many examples of that from scripture.  Also, she writes, "Gates and doors are places of guarding and exercising discernment .... In 5778 we will see many gates opening on both personal and national levels.  We are already experiencing that here in Israel.  Since Israeli believers welcomed the nations at the “Welcoming the King of Glory” conference two months ago, we and other Israeli leaders have found many gates in the Spirit opening or already opened in Israel!  We believe that President Trump himself opened a gate this past week, a blessing for his own nation and for Israel, as he honored Jerusalem by publically acknowledging her to be what God has from the beginning established and raised her up to be."  Read more of this encouraging word inside the Weekly Summary attachment.

Next we have a dose of reality written that is a description of the Muslim response to various historical events - sent to us by Eddie Santoro of Ahavat Yeshua in Jerusalem and "written by a dear friend of ours, Elhanan Ben Avraham. Take a few minutes to read it as it gives a clear picture of what is going on.  And please keep praying. No matter what occurs in the natural, we know that the Kingdom of God is advancing every day- in our lives, in the nation of Israel and throughout the world."  Read it inside the Weekly Summary attachment              

Howard and Randi Bass of the Beer Sheva Yeshua's Inheritance congregation are happy to be welcoming back their daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren who are returning to Israel after a year in Singapore. They ask, "Please pray for their resettlement, and for the ongoing work of kehilanews.com , a website ministry resource for the believers around the world with an active interest in the Body of Messiah here."

Howard notes (on 12/10) "Tomorrow is another landmark commemoration this year:  100 years since Jerusalem was officially handed over by the Ottoman Islamic Empire to the British forces led by General Edmund Allenby.  Political considerations seem to be keeping this event at a rather low-profile level.  Interestingly, the rather historic and courageous announcement by President Trump that Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Israel was just days before.  I have commented on that here"

From Revive Israel, an article by Ron Cantor on Trump’s Recognition of Jerusalem. A video by Asher intrater on The Jewish Revival where Asher explains: Before Yeshua returns it says that the Jewish people will welcome him back, 'Baruch Haba beShem Adonai." But what does this mean? | And last but not least Asher's important book we hope all of our subscribers with read and consider, called Alignment. The manifest glory of God will rest on the city of Jerusalem and the people of God everywhere. The nations of the world will be lined up on one side or the other.

You may have heard that terrorists in Gaza have been lobbing missiles into the surrounding Jewish towns like Ashkelon and Sderot. We have a request for prayer for Michael and Dina Beener in Sderot from City of the Living congregation (so named because Hamas has named Sderot, "the city of the Dead"). The Beeners ministry is there to counter that demonic labeling in every way! they ask that you would keep the people living in the whole area safe, and also that you pray for salvation not only for the Jewish people but also the residents of the Gaza Strip.

Since it is the Chanukah season, kids are out on school break and the Katzir (Harvest) Chanukah conference begins this week starting th 14th with the counselors, then all the youth join on 15 thru 17. Pray for this conference to build up the faith of the young Messianics.

Avi and Chaya Mizrachi of Dugit and Adonai Roi in Tel Aviv sent out a "Thank you" note:  "We want to thank president Trump for recognizing JERUSALEM as the capital of our country, Israel. This is a historical statement and the time has come for the nations to acknowledge that JERUSALEM is the capital of the Jewish state of Israel. As you know, David Ben Gurion proclaimed the birth of our country and our independence in Tel Aviv, on 14 of May 1948. We are approaching our 70 years of independence and celebrate three thousand years of this city, JERUSALEM, where our forefathers and our kings and our prophets, came to worship the Lord in our Temple. This is the city of our King Messiah, Yeshua and we believe that He is coming back soon to His own people and city!"  Yes and amen!

Sally Shiff of the Congregation of the Wellspring in Kfar Saba, returned home for a 6-week tour in the US just in time for the historic speech President Trump made recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and beginning plans to move the US embassy there. Sally provides links to  Donald Trump's announcement and Netanyahu's response . "How wonderful to arrive home to this breaking news!  Watching history take place before my very eyes, yet there is a solemnity in the spirit that I want to address.  So please take a moment and read my thoughts..." inside the Weekly Summary attachment      

Ruth Nessim of the Light of the Galilee congregation in Nahariya sends news of torrential downpours as Winter makes its way to Israel. There is great need as usual so keep praying for the rains.  She is delighted with the news of Trump's announcement, and speaks a little about the underground wall along the Gaza that Israel is building to defeat the terror tunnels from  Gaza to the surrounding Jewish villages.  Ruth also catches us up with dear people she has ministered to for many years, read more  inside the Weekly Summary attachment             

Maoz Ministries has sent a short but encompassing list of prayer requests for Israel, the government leaders of Israel and the US, salvation of the Jews and Arabs, and for their specific ministry needs., including for their ministry heads, Ari and Shira Sorko-Ram. An update from the Peniel Fellowship in Tiberias led by Daniel and Shirya Yahav begins with praise reports about the 11 new babies and several weddings among their members this year. But you will want to read about three babies among them that received miracles in answer to prayer - plus another with a 13-year old son whose heart implant at aged 2 failed. He lives and has an amazing testimony to tell of seeing Yeshua in the Garden of Eden when his heart stopped beating. Priority Prayer Focus Dec 6, 2017

Today at 1 PM Eastern Standard Time - about 8 PM Israel time - U.S. President Donald Trump will do what numerous presidents before him were intimidated, cajoled and talked out of doing. Trump will officially recognize the capital of Israel is Jerusalem. This is a powerful spiritual advance not only for Israel, but also for the United States. As such we must set ourselves to pray about the backlash from the enemies of God.

Please pray according to the world of the Lord to Isaiah (54:17):
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in condemnation you shall judge. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord.

Let God arise and His enemies be scattered from before us.

Eddie Santoro writes that sin, like cancer has spread throughout the earth, but "You are the light of the world!" That is the Good News that God is redeeming mankind from the bad news of our infected humanity. "We need to go forth each day with a heart burning to pour His life and light upon the unsaved. We are to shine forth in front of the lost. We are to make a connection with them in love and at some point and in some way let them hear that it is the love of Yeshua that they are encountering. There is no higher calling than to be the 'light of the world'. "

Also he writes: "I received the results of an MRI that I underwent last week and my brain and throat are healthy!  By His stripes I was healed"(Isaiah 53:5) and this affliction shall not return a second time. From Israel Pochtar of the Ashdod congregation Beit Hallel, great reports on two conferences - a women's conference with a ministry team from Gateway Church and a men's conference, both receiving praise from the attendees blessed by the experience. (About 30 unbelievers attended the men's conference and had a genuine encounter with God.)  Read several testimonies inside the Weekly Summary attachment from the two conferences that will touch you. Revive Israel has just passed a Facebook milestone of 20,000 followers - read more inside the Weekly Summary. Also there is a short teaching on "Foundation and Sacrifice" - "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."

Asher Intrater has a video about the 7 Appointed Times of the Bible and an article that is truly timely called Equal and Opposite Reaction | Newton's third law of physics is that to every "action" there is an EQUAL AND OPPOSITE "reaction." It seems to me that the same is true in the spiritual realm. To the degree that we push away the forces of evil and darkness, there is an equal and opposite reaction against us. Spiritual advance is accompanied by spiritual opposition.

Maoz Israel writes  about the 70th year since the United Nations General Assembly voted in favor of creation of a State for the Jewish People in the Land of Israel. "Today, many claim that Israel has no right to exist—despite Resolution 181, and several other instances giving legal legitimacy to a home for the Jewish people in this land. Yes, there's an increasing battle raging against Jerusalem, and that means Yeshua's return is approaching. Teaching Articles 

I have lifted some of the excellent commentary that Daniel Juster shares on his Facebook page. This focus is about the political situation in Israel and the religious stranglehold that the Ultra-Orthodox are exercising over which Jews get to be citizens. I thought it would help many to understand the religious persecution of the faith in Israel. It all starts with "Voting for Benjamin Netanyahu and Likud" with an excellent follow up  on the narrowing down of Israeli immigration.  Juster comments on many issues and the ensuing debates afterwards are always quite lively!

Voting for Benjamin Netanyahu and Likkud | Well, now I want to change directions from speaking about President Trump and to speak about the situation in Israel. Before the last election, we had in my mind an ideal coalition government. It included conservative and moderate parties, most noteworthy was the conservative nationalist Orthodox party of Naftali Bennet (in the coalition now) and Yesh Atid of Yair Lapid. The great mark of this coalition was the exclusion of the Ultra Orthodox.

Priority Prayer Focus

Don't shoot the messenger thereby falling into the footsteps of those in the first generation grumbling about Yeshua's message:  There was much grumbling among the crowds concerning him; some were saying, "He is a good man"; others were saying, "No, on the contrary, He leads the people astray." John 7:12

Turns out he WAS a good man.

Take the advice Gamaliel had a while later for a crowd grumbling against those continuing in Yeshua's message:

“Men of Israel, be careful what you are about to do with these men. . . .I tell you, stay away from these men and leave them alone. For if this plan or undertaking is of men, it will come to an end; but if it is of God, you will not be able to stop them. You might even be found fighting against God.” Acts 5:34-39

What a delight to get to start off this week with a report from Rachel and Gilad Netanel in Ein Karim whose gift for sharing the good news and extending hospitality attracts literally crowds to their home continuously. Ein Karem is an ancient village of the Jerusalem District and now a neighborhood in southwest Jerusalem and also the site of the Hadassah Medical Center.

But here is a taste: "So, they came with 40 people. I had prepared a real feast– 13 different salads, couscous, schnitzel, chicken and apple strudel with ice cream. Everyone was so delighted at how Gilad and I had decorated the place and prepared such a feast.  After they had eaten, I began to share about what this place is and how many miracles the Lord has performed in my life. They did not want to go and stayed until the evening.  Some of the people who heard my story wanted my phone number so that they could come with their families. . . . After another week, M.A. came with 50 guests. For those who do not remember me sharing about him, this is not a boring story.  He has been my friend for about 15 years." I really encourage you to read this ministry letter and get to know the labors of love of the Netanel's.

From the Maoz Ministries of Ari and Shira Sorko-Ram our eyes are directed toward a U.S. proposal for a peace deal - rumors are flying and of course, tensions are high concerning what will happen next. Also Maoz directs our eyes to prayer for young people as a battle is on to steal away the Messianic youth from continuing to walk on faithfully. "Some are even leaving the faith.  The reasons vary, but the fact remains—the enemy has been working overtime to plant lies and discord among youth in an attempt to corrupt the next generation of believers. The Arad Hebrew congregation Hasdey Yeshua in the Negev also files their report focused primarily on their children and youth - seeing their job to help the parents to teach their children to think. In this respect they greatly enjoyed having Professor Tony Futerman speak at a recent Shabbat about science and faith. Futerman is a well-known scientific researcher at the Weizman Institute - and a Messianic believer!  There is also a free book written by the Professor in English and in Hebrew that is offered inside the Weekly Summary attachment. “Science and Faith...Is There a Conflict?”

Joel Jelski has transitioned to northern Israel from Jerusalem and begun his discipleship program there. Already he is starting on the phase 2 of his transitional training season with the Lech Lecha discipleship training with is a full time discipleship program as a family.  Then they proceed to the 5 month program in Cyprus called Gateways Beyond.  Many Messianic young people in Israel and around the world have been in the Gateways Beyond program and here is where you can help this young family man raise the funds to complete his training. I just want to add that Joel has since his teenage years been highly active in ministry in Israel - from the pro-life ministry, to prayer and worship ministries.  All this training investment in Joel will be a good investment because he has for many years shown how all-in committed to the ministry that he is.
