WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 9/7/2017

Priority Prayer Focus Sep 6, 2017

I saw this posted on Facebook this morning and after conversations there this week my response was: "There it is! In one concise statement!"

"In the Last Days, everyone will come up to Jerusalem, either to make war against God or to worship Him. Which side will you be on?"

Considering all that is going on in the world, I invite you to listen to this almost 22 minute audio message "Jerusalem: Every Man's Destiny" by Asher Intrater as he speaks about the Feast of Tabernacles. In the Last Days, everyone will come up to Jerusalem, either to make war against God or to worship Him. Which side will you be on?

Divine appointments come in all sorts of surprising ways - including from being blocked in a parking space as this week's Maoz ministry relates brought a young Orthodox man into their offices. You will enjoy this story and it will also help you to see how Israel is being reached with the good news by personal, individual contact. In the nations, a big 'revival tent' might be right to answer the needs of the people, but in Israel, to answer the needs of the people takes the contact of Israeli Messianic Jews connecting with fellow Israelis in personal and genuine individual outreach. There is much cynicism toward the Gospel to overcome, as well as the need to see the life of Yeshua flowing in and through the lives of fellow Israelis (someone who really walks in the shoes of an Israeli Jew).

Katy Smith, who is the personal assistant of Ari and Shira Sorko-Ram, writes this weekly ministry letter to keep supporters up to date on what they are doing and the prayer needs of the ministry. She does a great job getting those things across, as well as giving an encouraging word to the read. Mazal tov on the #1000 Maoz ministry prayer letter. You can read more from this Tel Aviv ministry inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Israel Pochtar of the Ashdod Beit Hallel congregation is gearing up for humanitarian outreach during the upcoming Rosh Hashanah/Feast of Trumpets and Sukkot/Feast of Tabernacles holidays.  This ministry does tremendous work among the new Russian immigrants who have only been in the country about 3 months. The integration for them into the Israeli society is quite an uphill battle, but Beit Hallel and their Voice of Judah Ministries works continually to bring them the basic humanitarian needs of life, as well as prayer and ministry to them. Read more about this exceptional work of the Lord in Israel inside the subscription only Attached DOCX Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests from Israeli Ministries  [I will say that because of the effectiveness of this ministry, they have often been the target of religious harassment. Let them know you are standing with them.

The Karem El, or God's Vineyard congregation is a daughter congregation to the Mt Carmel congregation that was founded by David Davis. David has gone on to the Lord but both of these congregations and several outreaches also founded under Davis, continue on through the sabra leadership of Daniel Sayag. Inside the subscription only Attached DOCX Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests from Israeli Ministries you can read about the increase that is occurring within the Karem-El congregation, including two new ministry coordinators for their childrens' and young adults ministries. There are all sorts of activities going on for the women of the congregation, for teaching the children on Shabbat, congregational fun says before the return to school and a special guest speaker from a supporting church in the US. Read more about how God is giving increase and get their prayer requests inside the Weekly Summary.

Pastor Najeeb and Elisabeth Atteih are Lebanese pastors in Haifa who also run a Bible Book store, a ministry to the Arab soldiers serving in the IDF, ministry to the refugees from the Syrian war and many other forms of outreach in northern Israel. We first learned of the Atteih's when Ruth Nessim in Nahariya lost her husband and was in dire need for a pastor to take over in Albert's stead in their congregation.  After no one stepped forward, Najeeb did and they became fast friends. Najeeb is no longer pastoring the Hebrew congregation but they remain ministry partners in other ways.  I am sharing this background to let you know that now in the hour of Najeeb's health need, we need to be aware of the ways he has stepped out greatly over the years - not just to his fellow Arabs, but also to Ruth and to the Israeli Jews who come into their shop, or just into their lives as one touching testimony they share this month. I urge you to read about Najeeb's situation which is going to demand surgery in October as well their other ministry news.  Ruth Nessim, as always, has helped in composing this ministry letter which you can read inside the Weekly Summary attachment

From Revive Israel, an article by Asher Intrater, High priest of our faith on the ministry titles that clarigy roles and functions, but are all reflections of Yeshua, the great Rabbi, Priest and Apostle.  Asher also shares  in a video about how Ben Gurion airport recently broke its record for 100,000 visitors in one day. Asher talks about what this means for Israel.

Also from Revive Israel , a short piece on Ushpizin, by Tal, the name of a very Jewish town in western Poland that is more commonly known as Auschwitz.  And the remaining US tour dates of Revive Thailand's Amir Mark.

It has been a while but we have some news from Eitan Shishkoff who oversees the Tents of Mercy network of five congregations in northern Israel  this week.  Eitan's personal assistance shares about the children's camp for the network in Not so Hidden Treasure and another report is given on the Katzir teen camp and conference this summer, Each and Every One.  Also, the international Liaison for the Tents of Mercy network, Marty Shoub in Canada, gives his testimony in Marty's Story - A Jewish New-Ager from Montreal Finds Messiah

From the Kfar Saba Hamaayan congregation (Wellspring) which is led by Tony and Orna Sperandeo, Sally Shiff shares about the many aspects of life in their congregation - from the teens summer camp to the opportunities for YOU to be an intern or volunteer at their congregation  while in Israel. It takes an application, but you can read all about that, plus their Taglit program for next year which entails a 2 week time of serving and learning, plus some sightseeing too. Find it inside the Weekly Summary attachment. Also, I love the tribute of a mother and daughter who are long time members of the Hamaayan congregation - how they financed a car for the daughter, as well as a family reunion trip to Germany entirely through "just saving empty cans and bottles, at about 3 cents USD at a time". What an inspiration to set your sights and use what you have until you can get what you need. You will enjoy reading the story inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Evan and Maala Thomas in Netanya at the Beit Asaph congregation send their greetings and talk about the upcoming Fall Feasts which begin on Sep 21, and walk us through the major events of their past summer including a "Bridge Builders" reconciliation initiative in Norway; a ministry trip for Maala and Miriam of the congregation to Uganda; ministry pastoral colleague Lev's trip with Beit Asaph youth to Switzerland for a "crossing cultural boundaries" initiative; and Maala and Evan's trip to Germany with  an Arab Christian brother from Nazareth, and two German leaders from Philippus Ministry, who sponsored the initiative, led a team of German and Arab Christians and Israeli Messianic believers in a program of Apologetics.  Do you get the impression this ministry is deeply focused on reconciliation ministry? Then you are right! Read all about it Inside the subscription only Attached DOCX Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests from Israeli Ministries

They write, "At a national level we are grateful for some respite from war and the level of terrorism, which usually accompanies our hot summer season. We use the term, "respite" because we are under no false illusions that the social and security issues that are inseparable from our endemic conflicts in the Holy Land have disappeared. They have not and your prayers are needed. The wonderful work that the Lord is doing in our midst with building understanding and relationships among Palestinian and Israeli brothers and sisters in faith gives us a glimpse of what the Lord wants to see in the land and this encourages us greatly."

Ruth Nessim of the Or HaGalil, Light of the Galilee congregation,  and mentioned earlier in the report from Najeeb and Elisabeth Atteih, apologizes for the extra short update this month:  "Having not felt well since my bout with Salmonella, which followed several months of Bronchitis, I decided not to travel to America or Europe, but stay at home with my air-conditioning! Besides which, my house has been full of people from Europe and the States, and they are still coming. Apart from a short break in August and the first week in September, I am booked up until the end of November." She also writes about Najeeb and "his serious sickness". Please pray for this dear lady, and also for Najeeb.

Ron Cantor of Messiah's Mandate gives us an update on something you may have seen reported in the Israeli news about two Messianic Jews being denied marriage. The couple are from the Tiferet Yeshua congregation where Ron also serves. He sets some of the facts straight and helps us to understand exactly what was going on, in Messianic Jews Denied Marriage in Israel  Also read about the matching funds challenge and where they are on it for the expansion of the congregational facility inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Kobi and Shani (Sorko-Ram) Ferguson give a short update on their doing in the Yeshua Israel and Israel Prayer Tower ministry in Jerusalem.  A big part of their summer (besides moving to a new home in a safer side of the city), recording new Hebrew worship projects, and helping needy families, they also write about the opportunity they had to help Israeli kids in a multi-sports camp that also included learning more about God. Read about it inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Lastly, KehilaNews.com share this article about Israeli Messianic pastors share in Singapore about life in Israel. The Israeli pastors were Howard Bass of Nachalat Yeshua (Inheritance of Yeshua) in southern Beer Sheva and Guy Cohen of Katzir Asher (Harvest of Asher) in northern Acco.

Those of you who follow this prayer summary know that Eddie has a truly miraculous testimony of healing from cancers - the first a brain tumor which did not look as if he could live through, and later when he had survived the brain tumor, a throat cancer.
