Priority Prayer Focus Jan 4, 2017

We are probably going to be inundated in the next few weeks with prophetic words about what the year 2017 will hold for the Church and for Israel.  I'm not claiming to be a prophet, but like Bob Dylan wrote in Subterranean Homesick Blues, "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows." Really, all you need is to believe what God's prophetic Word says and to keep your eyes open and clear about what is happening in your world.

With that said, I believe what the year 2017 holds is a continuation of new alignments. This is a year that many more in the Church will become aware that we have 'family' in Israel - spiritual brothers and sisters in Yeshua/Jesus. Instead of trying to be aligned (grafted in) to unsaved Israel, many will begin to comprehend that the highest expression of supporting Israel is to support the ministries of like precious faith in Jesus in Israel. All support of Israel is good, but the highest level of support of Israel is when the Church and the Messianic believers in the diaspora actually connect with the community of faith in Israel.

One wouldn't think the Messianic Jews in the rest of the world needed to be told that, but apparently they do. As I heard one Jewish believer put it, everyone is looking out for their own falafel stand, not seeing how the benefit of all the falafel stands is served by standing together more.  (Hey! If it doesn't apply to you, don't get huffy.)  ;-)

Let's pray for an increase of the right alignments forming between individuals, ministries, the Church and the Messianic Diaspora with the Body in Israel. Israel is the centerpiece of the whole balagan, so of course our alignment to the laborers in that harvest field is critical! Get in right alignment in 2017.

Recuperating from an emergency appendectomy while in the US, Ron Cantor of Messiah's Mandate still has an amazing output of communications! He is healing and promising to try to slow his pace a bit when full healing returns, but this young man is really a great communicator in so many platforms, like his Out of Zion GOD-TV program.  One of the several email updates,  Ron shares a report by Gil Afriat of the Tiferet Yeshua congregation in Tel Aviv about a group of young adults in the congregation have been praying for healing and other needs on the streets of Tel Aviv and seeing real fruit coming from it. Rachel Boskey has sent out their personal ministry update and it is so jam-packed I can only do a few excerpts while encouraging you to go to their website for several of the prophetic perspective that Avner has put out in the wake of the recent UN Resolution 2334 [The Kings of the Earth are Taking Their Positions]. Avner also has an article called Replacement Blowback that you will find thought provoking. (Did you know you can follow them on Facebook to get instant access to new material? Many Israeli Ministries are using Facebook as a platform to connect with more people and make their articles, videos and reports available to more people.)

In the personal update, Rachel writes about how 2017 marks the 100 year anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, the Australian ANZAC liberation of Beer Sheva from the Turks; the 70th Anniversary of the UN Partition Plan which led to the birth of Israel; and the 50 year anniversary of Jerusalem reunification to Israel. That is a lot of significantly numbered historical milestones!  What must that mean prophetically?

Shira writes, "Spiritually speaking, it is my opinion that this school has a ver special mission. it is literally preparing a new generation of Messianic Jewish children to take their place in Israeli society as upstanding citizens who will be a light in this land."

From Revive Israel, Taking Back the Morning by Basem Aldernaly is a short piece on the Islamic call to prayer  noise that the Israeli government can do little about. But, he writes, "as the Body of Messiah, we have authority in the name of Yeshua to spiritually take back control of the day from its start: sunrise." From Tents of Mercy in Kiryat Yam, north of Haifa, a report about the December transition of leadership from senior pastor Eitan Shishkoff to Avishalom Tekel.  Avishalom writes, "After 21 years of pioneering, the senior leadership of Tents of Mercy transitioned from the older generation of leaders to a younger generation of leaders, from Eitan to Avishalom. We have been anticipating this transition for quite some time but never did we think that it would be such a joyous occasion. When we think of transition we think of the things we will have to sacrifice, the responsibility that leads to burden, not the joy that it brings. At least that is what I always thought. But that Shabbat morning was so joyful and the presence of God was very tangible. The prophetic words spoken during the meeting brought challenge, encouragement, and inspiration. The Lord of the Harvest knows how to equip His labourers. Joel Jelski is finishing up his university studies at the end of February and will be heading to Mexico with his wife and son for a rest break with Teresa's family, and later for some US speaking engagements.  This month they served in the Katzir youth conference over Hanukkah, and ask that the seeds planted will bear great fruit. As they rest in Mexico, they will be considering and praying about the next season of their life. Pray for the Lord's perfect will for them to be brought forth.

From the pastoral team at Kerem-El, God's Vineyard in northern Israel, pastors Daniel & LuAnn Sayag, Yonatan Arnold and Stefan & Keren Silver report about their congregational evangelism teams during the "Holiday of Holidays" festival in Haifa. They had many concerts and other events to share the gospel with many and report that a number of people were also healed.  This congregation is building up relationships within their membership and reaching out to their community. From David and Michaella Lazarus of the Beit Immanuel congregation in Jaffa, their first report is the honor to be invited by the Holocaust Survivors in Rishon LeTzion to their joint Hanukkah - New Years Party.  They write, "Your contributions warmed their hearts, but also their fragile bodies, with winter robes for those celebrating yet another birthday this year. They asked that we tell all of you specifically, you who care enough to think about them, that you would also be enriched in this New Year with the same love and comfort that you have extended to them."

They also send a report on their last evening of Hanukkah together as a congregational family during the candle lighting ceremony and give an update on the children's rooms which are now open. Update for Rick Ridings' daughter Esther Moore: "As a praise report, after only two weeks of being here at His Place in Germany and getting treatments, the lump has already become much softer and smaller!!!! There were two parts to the lump, and the bigger part has gotten much softer and is now further away from the surface. The smaller part has gotten so small it is now only the size of a pin head - they're saying it's only a matter of time now before they should both go completely. This change in size and hardness was confirmed both by one of the physical therapists here and the main health practitioner. Thank You Abba! ....I have been speaking healing scriptures over myself up to three times a day and feel like my faith has been strengthened more than ever before. I am confident that God has been doing a good work in me and He who has begun a good work will be faithful to complete it."

Priority Prayer Focus Dec 28, 2016

You all know the situation with the United Nations & the outgoing leadership of the United States. Keep this in prayer, but do not fear. In God's prophecy we know that there are many international dynamics that are inevitably leading to the return of Yeshua to settle the issue of Jewish existence in Israel with all complete finality. Let's keep praying for time for the harvest and for courage and heart for all the Lord's faithful servants to continue advancing His Kingdom no matter what stormy clouds gather.

Martin Sarvis in Jerusalem opens with a short word on the overlay of the first night of Hanukkah and Christmas Eve this year - a rare coinciding event which Asher Intrater in Jerusalem gives a video teaching in The Chanukah-Christmas Connection.

A wonderful report from Eddie Santoro on his latest MRI and PET scan for followup detection of Brain and throat cancer. Halleluyah! Next week we will return to the health updates for many leaders and believers in Israel - but please keep up your prayers for them.  When we are ill, the enemy likes to take advantage of our physically weakened state to attack on other levels.  Please remember our precious brothers and sisters in the Lord's harvest fields in Israel.

Eddie also gave a report on the Ahavat Yeshua congregation in Jerusalem which is deep into raising up the next generation of spiritual leadership in Israel - what a blessing! And the congregation is "exploding as new families have recently joined and the young couples who are already members keep having children."  Eddie writes, "The Lord promised that in the Last Days there would be Jews and Gentiles in Jerusalem from every nation to welcome him upon his return. We are excited to see that Body being formed today. Each week we have many Israelis along with people from different nations throughout the earth. We have a large number of Koreans who are members and come every week. Many others come from the nations of Europe, Africa, South America and of course there are always many from the USA. How amazing it is to see God's End Time plans being manifest in this day in Jerusalem."

The media platform for the congregations, Kehila News Israel, answers a very important question:  What Can Kehila News Israel Do That International Christian Organizations Operating in Israel Cannot Do?  Much! because being Israeli citizens, they do not have to worry about the work-visa restrictions that are imposed on the international Christian organizations who are "not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus" in order to remain in the country.  That's one huge reason to support this valuable resource on a steady basis.  You can read more inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Let me add a layer of understanding about the social media ministries in Israel:  Now some Christian organizations do not like giving to "social media" ministries, but social media - from Facebook to websites and online TV and radio programming by Israeli Messianic ministries - is an incredibly valuable tool for reaching Israelis - much more so than you might think.  Why? Well, first of all online outreach is something that people can access in the privacy of their own computers or cell phones. These are quite literally like the Jewish religious leader who came to question Jesus about faith under the cover of night time darkness, in John 3:21.

You must understand that Nicodemus is a type of the thousands of Truth-seekers in Israel responding to the online outreaches and many of the younger generation of Israeli Messianic believers are using social media to touch hearts for Yeshua.  This is an important thing for us to get hold of, especially us older folk who believe social media takes people away from real life. The truth is, it can also bring TRUE LIFE to people and that is what many great online outreaches like KehilaNews are doing. They are well worth supporting to reach all the Nick-at-Nights!

The Yuval Messianic Worship Center for Music and the Arts (Music and the Arts  are always dear to Jewish hearts so an open avenue to reach Israelis also) are seeing their youth establishing worship times at the Jerusalem Prayer Tower, and have also opened a new campus on the Yad HaShmona Messianic village.  Read their exciting reports inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Arab Christian intercessor in Nazareth, Rania Sayegh sends a lengthy update on their Sept conference which drew 130 Arab women from 23 different Arab churches in the land. Our dear friend, Carolyn Hyde is "angry, red, hot angry! The enemy has stolen way too many children from us and our friends and it's enough already! "  Over the past several years Carolyn has had a deep intercessory vision for the prodigal children. Also from our friend Brian Slater whose Abundant Bread of Salvation ministry does humanitarian outreach in the Netanya area, sends his Highlights of 2016 - who and how the ministry has used your donations to minister to a wide diversity of Israelis including the tender loving care of Holocaust survivors.  A hungry person doesn't care who gives them food as long as they get food, but we should care who we give our humanitarian donations to in order to distribute to the needy in Israel because Jesus wants to do something more for those people beyond food for their bellies. Our friends in Beer Sheva, Howard and Randi Bass, have returned to Israel from a trip to the US to visit family. Howard has some really greatly encouraging words about family 'reunions' - which we all have probably just had during the holidays.  They were also able to get together with some of the medical students who they have pastored over the years as students in Israeli Medical schools. (One follow up email informed us that a scheduled operation Howard was about to have postponed and will be rescheduled. Leon Mazin of the Return to Zion congregation in Haifa reveals their  new vision for a "Prophetic Studio" or Prayer Tower and I was personally really blessed by how he explained their approach in general:  "... a lot of what we are doing at Return to Zion Congregation is random, in a sort of “Russian” way. But I am no longer ashamed of it, since the “Russian-Jewish method” sometimes bears its fruits. This method involves less thinking but is more quickly done. Maybe it is due to having so many different ministries and projects at Return to Zion — I hope that many of them and good…. All people are different, and the Lord God is using people, with their different talents, to reach his goals. At least we see this today, observing how the different talents of our co-workers, brothers and sisters in the congregation and in our ministry, might be used for good purposes."

Aren't you glad God is not into cookie-cutter people? Kobi and Shani Ferguson write about recent developments in their music ministry as they have prayed for a "home" for Israeli musicians and worship leaders to develop their skills and be discipled.  They are now joining with "a talented man named Eli founded the Ashira Project, joined Yeshua Israel’s Israel Worship Initiative. The mission of Ashira (Hebrew for “I will sing”) is to record and distribute Israeli worship at no cost to the artist or the listeners. Jacob Damkani is refreshingly transparent writing, "We are facing quite some difficulties…The enemy has started another round of vicious attacks, trying everything to take my life, my joy, and my hope. One day we think it is all over and then it starts from another end... at times it seems to endure for too long but we know that the Lord does not allow one minute too much. He knows what is good for me, for us, and for the Kingdom; “and we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. ” (Romans 8)  But I would lie if I said this battle was easy. It is not. Not easy at all, it is probably the hardest battle in my life! Last but not least, we have two short items from Eitan Shishkoff of the Tents of Mercy Network in northern Israel. One, on the recent ordination ceremony for Avishalom beginning his role as the new senior leader of the Tents of Mercy congregation.  Also Eitan asks prayers for the Chanukah Katzir Youth conference which will be starting tomorrow, Dec 29-31. Eitan has been heading up this Katzir ministry for the past 18 years and it is one of three Katzir events they do each year. Many of the counselor and staff are themselves past participants when they were teens. What a wonderful treasure they are tending over. Urgent: Messianics versus Tightening Immigration Lockout

In two separate reports this week we are seeing that as the world comes increasingly against Israel, Israel increasing is allowing religious forces over the Interior Ministry to block immigration of Jews who are not Orthodox with very aggressive blocking of Messianic Jews. This is a serious matter to intercede over.  The Israel's Restoration Prayer of Tikkun writes, "...even as antisemitism is rising again in the world, the immigration laws in Israel continue to be tightening. It is becoming increasingly difficult for those of Jewish descent who do not practice or convert to Rabbinic Judaism to be approved for aliyah (acceptance for Israeli citizenship).Though these Jewish descendants would assuredly have been at risk for being slaughtered in the Holocaust, they currently have limited options for return to the Jewish homeland. Please pray for a change in Israel policy that would permit all of those of Jewish descent to become citizens of Israel. Pray that the stranglehold over the Interior Ministry by the Orthodox would be loosed. Pray for encouragement and provision for those who are 'stuck in limbo' and are unable to acquire work visas or benefits while their cases are held up or appealed."

Also from another source: "Today we went to the Interior Ministry with our lawyer to ask what is going on with E's paperwork. Everything was on track until this month. Now the Ministry has not responded. Their answer today was, "We don't know. We'll check on it and call you." Aryeh Deri is the ultra-orthodox man who was the head of the Ministry. He was convicted of stealing millions of shekels & was put in jail. He served his time and when he got out, Netanyahu put him back in the same post, despite objections of putting the fox in the henhouse, etc.! Now that he's back, the Interior Ministry is ignoring the believers. Not just us. We need prayers to get this man OUT of this office! Warfare prayers! Believers don't need any more hassles; it's difficult enough to live in this country. God is in charge --- NOT the ultra-orthodox!"

WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 12/14/2016

My intention is to take off next week in preparation for the Christmas holidays, however, should traumatic events demand it, I will publish. This is not unheard of, as Islamists love to strike on Jewish holidays and religious persecutors in Israel like to strike against the Israeli believers on holidays to: prime examples the Purim terror bomb on the Ortiz' and the mobbing of the Beer Sheva Congregation on Christmas.  So please continue to prayer along with us for a peaceful Hanukkah and Christmas celebration 2016. Know that we will interrupt our celebration should need arise.
God bless you all around the world as you continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem - which will only come as our Prince of Peace Yeshua takes His throne in the city of the great King: Jerusalem

Priority Prayer Focus Dec 14, 2016

On Saturday I had lunch with a group of mostly Messianic friends as we were getting together with a young Israeli Messianic, talking among other things about what does it take to get Christians to support the believer ministries in Israel instead of sending all their donations to John Hagee and Rabbi Eckstein (I've been pondering that one for the past two decades and as the grimaces around the table indicated my other friends have also.)

We were talking about what it is going to take to move the Christian support of Israel in general to the specific support of the spiritual body of the Lord in Israel, those Israeli citizens who have gone from 29 document believers in Jesus in 1948 to estimates of upwards of 15,000 believers in Jesus today. A number that continues to increase with a growing openness of Israelis to the gospel, and which should not be so seemingly insignificant to Christians. But the ignorance of these things is astounding to me.

There was also one young man there who came specifically to meet with the young Israeli, unknown to any of us, and apparently it was his first time to meet an Israeli Messianic Jew, because he asked our young friend where was his beard. I looked at the Israeli astonished, and said, You used to have a beard? (Because I have seen lots of pictures of this young man but never was he bearded.) Then the Christian man said he just expected the Israeli believer to have a beard. The Israeli said, that is the ultra-orthodox. I laughed at that and said, No payot (sidecurls) either!

But that underscores the tremendous lack of understanding going on among Christians about the believers in Israel. And even Christians who love Israel seem to have a greater attraction to the most immediately identifiable sect of Judaism, the ultra-Orthodox who wear all black clothing that was fashionable in 17th century Eastern Europe, with long beards and sidecurls...in other words, the very group that is most dedicated to persecution and harassment of the Israeli Messianic Jewish community.

What does it take to wake up Christians to the Body of Messiah in Israel? God only knows.

But these most visibly obvious of religious Jews are not who Christians should be following or supporting (since support of them often translates to funding their efforts to persecute the believers in Israel - paying for their protests outside the believers' congregations and other diverse forms of harassment including spying operations to get believers fired from jobs, kicked out of rentals, even denied citizenship).

Wake up, Christians. It is past time for you to pay attention to what God is really doing in Israel among the believers. Because God IS moving to save "all Israel" but it is through those men and women Israeli citizens who are already following the Jewish Messiah Yeshua, not those fighting against Him. PRAY for an awakening in the Church of God's purposes in returning salvation in Yeshua to Israel & the Jews

Israel Pochtar of the Ashdod congregation Beit Hallel sends an annual holiday update on his family, which is mostly good news, with the exception of the loss of his little brother in Crimea. Our deep condolences to Israel as most of us know the personal tragedy of the plague of drugs on at least one family member, if not more. Pray that God will comfort Israel, and that those other family members who do not know the LORD would come forth to faith in the name of Yeshua as his little brother did on his deathbed.

(Oh! But how the infantilizing of American young people and all the nonsense surrounding that could be stopped if the USA required similar military service BEFORE college.) Israel talks about his little 4'11 tall border police niece - a little slip of a girl - armed and trained to protect visitors to the Western Wall in the Old City. It's a good read. :-)

Eric Benson of the House of Victory addictions rehab in Haifa writes about his travels to the highlands Scotland:  "Today there is a famine of God's Word throughout the country. Many of its former church buildings have become nightclubs, restaurants or social entertainment facilities. It was sad to see what has become of these people. In light of this current atmosphere it was an honor to go forth to fulfill the words of the prophet Isaiah which declare, "For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem" (Is. 2:3).  

This is a key understanding among the ministries of Israel, that while their primary mandate is to be Yeshua's witness to the people of Israel, there is also the ancient calling on Abraham for them to fulfill the WORD going out from ZION.  Do you realize how it is a testimony of startling proportions to many to see and hear Israeli Jews delivering the testimony of Jesus to the nations after all that has gone on in history since the first 100 years after Yeshua's death, burial, resurrection and ascension into Heaven? This is another key phenomena of the end times.

From the Tiberias Peniel (Face of God) Fellowship of Daniel and Shirya Yahav, a catch up after many months as we approach the end of the season. In their prayer letter was offerred a written teaching of Daniel's that he is currently teaching on. Shirya writes, "Our desire is to teach God's people, young and old, the whole word of God, so that we may all be well grounded in truth and not as children who are tossed by every wind of doctrine. For that cause, we have been investing for a long time in developing teaching materials for children of all ages, based on the whole truth of the word of God, with spiritual insights, and not just as some 'nice stories'. ... We see it of high importance, that people don't just pray once to accept Yeshua, but that they grow and mature in their faith. When peoples' lives are truly changed, and others around them notice it, it is more effective than many campaigns. We have seen it work, as family members and friends come to faith."

" Another level of ministry that the Lord has brought Daniel's way, is to lead a support group for pastors who come together and meet on a regular basis. This has been developing over the past several years, and at the moment consists of eight pastors from eight different fellowships around the country. That is a really important point on the need of greater unity to be formed among the diverse streams of faith in Yeshua in Israel and these are the steps that must be taken to move past the mental outlook of, You have your falafel stand and I have mine, and we have nothing else in common. Oh yes we do! Because God has commanded blessings where there is unity - not a merging of falafel stands, but the understanding that we are in this TOGETHER for the sake of Messiah and our lost countrymen.

Had the great pleasure of hearing Ron Cantor of Messiah's Mandate preach in Dallas this past weekend. If you are unaware of this dynamic, young preacher who is such a powerful communicator in many mediums, you should go out of your way to read, listen and watch him. He has a new show on GOD TV called Out of Zion that can be viewed online. Ron talked about how when they are filming around Israel that they are drawing crowds who watch, including religious leaders who approach Ron afterwards asking if he can come preach at their synagogue... then he breaks the news that he could, but they should know he is a believer in Yeshua.  Imagine the impact (jealousy) this must have on those leaders, to love what they see Ron speaking about, then discovering Yeshua is inspiring his words!  These are on the street testimonies - pray for all those believers in Israel in similar Divine encounters.

This week we have such a touching account of Pastor Najeeb and Elizabeth Atteihwho went to Jordan to minister to the Syrian and Iraqi refugees there. One account, I must confess, caused me to break out into tears after reading. The need is so great and they tell us that a great many of these refugees are Christians "people who love the Lord, and read the Word."  I don't know what the case is in Europe, but the USA has been terrible under Barak Obama in refusing Syrian refugees that are Christian and only receiving the Islamist refugees. Yes, God is causing many of those Islamic refugees to come to faith in the West, but it is also a command of the Word of God that "as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith."

In November Arni and Yonit Klein in the Galilee took part in hosting "Eighty-three worshipers from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Mainland China arrived in Tiberias…for 144 hours (six days) of continuous worship. Though most of the group spoke little or no English, the sense of unity in spirit and purpose was strong and steady."  This is their vision to host the believers from the nations to come to Israel for intense times of worship and intercession .  They wrote also, "Being joined by brethren and teams from other congregations in the Galilee was a particular blessing. Our deepest heartfelt thanks goes out to our brethren from the Far East who heard and answered the call to come and pour out their hearts on the front line along with the Body in the Land."

Arni also asks is this the last chance for the UK? "For a few years we sensed a burden for the Body in the UK to carry out what was set forth in the Balfour Declaration of 1917 and the British Mandate of 1922. To establish a national Jewish homeland is essentially to enable and encourage what we refer to as aliyah…the return/ immigration to Israel of Jews from around the world. However, tragically, by 1939 the British government reneged on their promise by publishing what is known as the “White Paper,” which cancelled the Balfour Declaration and gave the land to the Arabs. In so doing, the nation turned its back on the Jews. We cannot help but see a direct connection with the current flood of Islam washing away British culture and the decision to overturn the Balfour Declaration and look with favor on the establishment of yet one more homeland for the Arabs. We also have a report from Ruth Nessim (who accompanied Pastor Najeeb and Elizabeth to minister to the refugees).  She also helps them writing their prayer letter and has an incredible big heart for ministering to Arabs.  Ruth is one of the pioneering believers in Israel, working many years alongside her pastor husband Albert before he passed on to glory. I am always heartened to read the prayer letters of Ruth, because she has obviously decided that she is going to make every minute of her life count for Yeshua and for all the Lord brings across her path. David Lazarus of the Beit Immanuel congregation in Jaffa writes a wonderful article on the mysterious "Magi" who first come bearing gifts to Yeshua at his birth.
