WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 7/20/2016

From August 2001 to July 2016
Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests
from Israeli Ministries
ARROWS from ZION

Priority Prayer Focus Jul 20, 2016

Romans 8: 31-39 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?  He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?  Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.  Who is he who condemns? It is Messiah who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.  Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Messiah Yeshua our Lord.

As Beer Sheva pastor Howard Bass writes, "It does not take a prophet to believe what is written in the Prophets by the Holy Spirit. What was written beforehand was written for us living at the end of the age. (Rom 15:4; 1Cor 10:11)  Our spirits are groaning with the Holy Spirit in the assault of evil and darkness against that which makes for peace and joy.  We hear daily news reports from all the continents, and these last two weeks have been rapid fire."

Howard has written a commentary in the aftermath of the failed Turkish coup, called "The Farthest North", which you can read at www.streamsinthenegev.com.

With reports in the last 24 hours of bombings heating up on the Syrian border and the IDF set on high alert at the northern borders, all of the Messianic congregations are stepping up prayer for their soldiers serving in the Israeli military. In the Beer Sheva congregation, Bass writes that five of their young men and women are now preparing to enter compulsory service and they ask prayer. He notes, "Realize, too, that not all of these young people from believing families or from the Messianic congregations are themselves necessarily strong believers in the truth of Yeshua and the gospel, especially for their own lives."  Please up your prayers for the peace keeper forces of Israel.

Kehila News Israel, an information portal from the Messianic community in Israel, shares the good news this week that the Israeli Supreme Court has finally weighed in on the mental state of the Jewish terrorist, Jack Teitel, who bombed a Messianic family in Ariel, nearly killing their 15 year old son. It was a miracle from God that Ami Ortiz survived.  It is a legal tactic in Israel for Jewish religious terroristic acts to be chalked up to an act of insanity. This was also the tactic of Teitel's legal team, however the final judgment of the courts was that Teitel was not insane but rather hate-filled.  This is the truth and for the Israeli courts to rule this way, shuts a spiritual door (reaping what we sow).  It is very important that even unsaved Israel conducts itself in godly integrity. Pray that they will and will continue to uphold justice for Israeli Messianic believers. link to the story

Kehila also shares an article by Miriam Abramov on How the Dallas Tragedy Parallels Hate in Israel, and a Staff article on the US Congressional investigation that showed US tax dollars aided the anti-Netanyahu campaign.  We add to that a secular news story: State Department Purged Emails About Secret Anti-Netanyahu Campaign

Dov Bikas, sho has a Russian-speaking congregation in Beer Sheva and an evangelistic outreach to addicts and sex trade workers in Tel Aviv, writes, "As the time goes by, I become more and more convinced that ministry to the poor, homeless and addicted is one of the biblical methods of evangelism."

Bikas cites the Luke 14 parable of Yeshua - the invitation of the master to a feast - as the example of what he sees:  "From my experience of sharing the Good News in Israel, I have come to the conclusion that in this country it is very difficult to invite unbelievers that are absolute strangers to church or evangelistic activities. ...yet only a few people responded. Like the parable, those who were called to “the feast” did not want to come.  By contrast, since the day we opened our outreach center in Tel Aviv for drug addicts and the homeless, it has never remained empty. Today about 30 unbelievers attend Aviv Center every day." Read more about this Israeli ministry who have devoted themselves to lifting up those society has given up on inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

As promised, I am continuing this week with the prayer letter from Rania Sayegh, a prophetic intercessor with the House of Prayer & Exploits (HOPE) in Nazareth. In this continuation Rania shares a vision about cross pollination and her experiences in it as she recently ministered in European nations. In Norway, Rania writes, "We could feel the presence of Holy Spirit and His grace in the room, as hearts broke and humility took precedence. God really allowed the partnership with His heart for their nation. ... Along side of me, Avner and Rachel Boskey were invited to teach on God's heart for the Jewish people, and another speaker from Lebanon spoke on Islam and what God is doing in the Muslim world." See more inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Israel Pochtar in Ashdod gives a good report on the annual pastoral retreat put on by Tom Hess of the Jerusalem House of Prayer for All Nations. The location was the Sea of Galilee and Israel writes, "This retreat is an annual event that we go to with several of our leaders' families. It brings together Jewish and Arab pastors from all over the land for precious time of prayer, sharing, worshipping and fellowshipping together. We're all so blessed by this amazing experience time and time again. I consider it a blessing and a privilege the opportunity to teach and encourage fellow pastors, both Jew and Arab."

Pochtar wrote, "We heard so many different testimonies from different pastors, one that really stood out to me came from my dear and close friend...who pastors an Arabic speaking church in the Israeli city ... which became a perfect example of the coexistence that is very much possible between Jews and Arabs.  [Arabic pastor] now travels a lot to Germany and Finland, where he is often invited to preach to Muslims, as well as to equip the local churches there on how to reach Muslims with the Gospel. Speaking Arabic has been an open door for him in reaching many Muslims, especially now in Europe. He personally led 70 Iraqi and Syrian Muslims to Christ and recently baptized them on one of his trips.

"We all watch the news and see the horrible images of Islamic terrorism across the world, but we mustn't lose sight of God greatness to shine his light even through the deepest darkness. So it's always so touching and eye-opening to hear testimonies of how God is touching the hearts of many Muslims, and Yeshua is meeting them on their own "road to Damascus", breaking through even their own resistance to Him."

Eddie Santoro who is now among the apostolic elders of the Ahavat Yeshua congregation in Jerusalem, introduces us to Jonathan Moore one of the next generation of Israeli ministry leaders they have been training in the congregation for the past ten years. Jonathan shares his vision for the Ahavat Yeshua congregation which you can read inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary.  If you are a Facebook user, Revive Israel has been sharing many video introductions of the young leaders on the Revive Israel team, as well. We are clearly seeing this generation of young leaders beginning to take their places even as the apostolic elders are continuing on in mentoring - really fatherly roles.

Speaking of Revive Israel, this week they are introducing Meet the Team – Andrew.  A prayer request is made for team member Ariel Blumenthal & family as they traveled to China for meetings there. See the article by Blumenthal How to Connect with Israel - Part III  | Also this teaching by Asher Intrater: The Holocaust: Why the Jews? | VIDEO

In our 6/29/16 issue we shared with you a report from Orna Greenman about visiting the site of Martin Luther's church where an anti-semitic building sculpture called Judensau is part of the heritage of the Church reformer. This week Orna writes with an appeal to sign the petition of Messianic Jewish historian and theologian, Dr Richard Harvey. The petition is the removal for that Judensau embossment. Read more from Orna here. I am sure most of us are quite willing to put our names to that petition.  Sign the petition here.

Too Close to Home!

Wanted to share two Facebook posts from ministry leaders in Israel regarding the Terror attack that was thwarted in Jerusalem. A Druze Light Rail security guard approached a man who aroused his suspicions; After speaking to the man, he claimed that he had a bomb in his bag; Sappers defused the bombs and thwarted another terrorist attack.

In response to the attack, Evan Levine of the HaTikvah Project and Cody Archer of Revive Israel posted these comments:
Evan Levine: Today a terrorist was stopped by alert security forces while attempting to board the light rail train in Jerusalem with a bag full of explosives. This occurred at the closest train stop to our dental clinic where our patients and employees get on and off the train. We praise God that the plans of the enemy were foiled and ask you to pray for continued protection!

Cody Archer: This was a few minutes' walk from our house today. Our home group just ended tonight and we found out that two girls from our home group were at the same place at the same time when they caught the terrorist. Gods hand of protection was on them!!

So many nations are being attacked by Islamic terrorists, but I believe this is like Acts 11 when a worldwide famine was prophesied by the Spirit to the believers in Antioch, and the disciples decided then and there to send special provision to the believers in Israel.  Do you get that the whole world was going to be in need, but the saints recognized that it would be the saints in Judea that they needed to make provision for?

I believe in the same way that the Church providing for the need of the believers in Israel in famine, that the same deposit of prayer for the safety of our brethren in Israel in the face of terror, will redound with our own safety from terrorism.  In fact, I believe the reason the nations are suffering from Islamic terrorism is that we are reaping what we have sown in refusing to acknowledge that Israel is being attacked by terrorism - not "freedom fighters".   So how do we reverse the curse of Western leaders' hypocrisy and willingness to turn a blind eye to terrorism against Israel? We place Israel in the priority in our prayers to God for safety from terrorism.  It is really simple in my view.

Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue

Yesterday Israel marked ten years since the beginning of the Second Lebanon War.  The war started after Hezbollah attacked Israel's northern border, killing three soldiers and kidnapping two others. The war lasted 34 days. Forty-four citizens and 121 soldiers were killed.  2000 citizens and 628 soldiers were wounded.  Hundreds of rockets rained down on Israel, paralyzing the northern area and causing about 900,000 Israeli citizens to flee their homes. The war ended with a ceasefire following UN Security Council Resolution 1701 - the resolution which Hezbollah continues to violate.

In addition to the obvious violations, Hezbollah's Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah continues making public threats against Israel, promising her quick demise.  He continues saying Hezbollah has tens of thousands of rockets pointed at Israel in any given moment.  He is also threatening a specific area near Haifa where Ammonia tanks are located as a major target.

Though our leaders and commanders assess that the time has not yet come for another conflict in the north, the popular opinion (after all, we do live in Israel!) is that it's only a matter of time.

PRAY for God to protect Israel from every side.  With Hamas in the South, ISIS in Egypt and now in Jordan, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria and threats of more flotillas to "free Gaza" from the Mediterranean, Israel has to be on alert always.
PRAY for wisdom for our government and military.  May God give them a special insight into the plans of our enemies so that the plans of the wicked come to nothing.
And, especially this week, PRAY for families who lost their loved ones to war and terror, and those who continue struggling with injuries, PTSD, etc.  PRAY for healing and comfort for all Israel.

Just My 2¢

The 'Woodstock' of this generation is a electronic music festival that began in 2005 in Boom, Belguim called TomorrowLand. Like Woodstock, it promotes a 'love & peace" message of unity. It's a fantasy festival far from the maddening realities of everyday life. This weekend, SAT July 23, the Tomorrowland music festival will hold events in 7 nations simultaneously: Mexico, India, Japan, Colombia, Germany, South Africa and Israel.
I don't want to blow this request for prayer out of spiritual proportion because personally I don't believe this is a festival to open a demonic portal. I believe what opens a demonic "portal" is what we allow our brains to think upon that becomes an ungodly condition in our hearts.

I do believe this music festival deserves prayer, but in my opinion it is not the most critical prayer target of the day. There is a lot of spiritual speculation going on surrounding this whole "demonic portal" business, and that began prior to the music festival because o its close proximity to the CERN Large Hadron Collider.  There has sprung up spiritual conspiracy theories that like the conspiracy theories regarding the CERN collider, the festival is opening up the portals of hell. I do not bear witness to the great spiritual concern of these theories.
However, I will say that like Woodstock impacted my generation in a negative way - beckoning young people to a romanticized idealism about how the world should be, this festival is obviously doing the same thing to young people of today. That much is obvious by looking at the video about the 2015 festival.
Now I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but I would urge caution not to oversell the urgency of this event. I repeat: It does bear intercessory attention, but let's not over-react to the theories about it.
(The collider is the physicists' search for the "God particle" or the Higg's Bosom particle. The name given to sell a book about the Higg's Bosom particle, the "God particle' is probably what kicked off all the speculations about opening a demonic portal. If you would like a laymen's explanation of the research it is explained here )

WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 7/13/2016

From August 2001 to July 2016
Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests
from Israeli Ministries
ARROWS from ZION

Priority Prayer Focus Jul 13, 2016

We in the USA need your prayers as our 'melting pot' nation stands very close to breaking out in great racial violence - and this does have an organic tie to prayer for Israel! Some of you may know that my home base is in Dallas, Texas which has been in shock and mourning since the massacre and wounding of police officers protecting a Black Lives Matter protest.  This has burst open with increased violence and plots to assassinate police in cities across the nation. There has been much interchange of messaging and street tactics between militant Black organizations and American-Islamist terrorism supporters. [EDITED]  I take it very seriously that alliance between militant blacks and radical Muslims in the US is producing a violent morphing of Black  protests into an America version of the Palestinian "Intifada" against Israel.

The parallels are great - so the power of prayer to God for the overthrow of evil plans is also great. We have learned this in our prayers for Israel's protection against terrorist plots over the past 15 years, and we have seen astounding answers to prayer. Please pray with us in America - not only that the Church rise up to deal with this racial strife in the Spirit and power of Messiah, but also at the same time that the deception of Islamist aggressors against Israel and Western civilization would be exposed clearly. It is time for the WHOLE CHURCH to wake up to the truth.  Please pray for us - especially that US law enforcement not be caught off guard on Friday. Thank you, Donna

Joel Jelski, who is a young leader in Jerusalem at Succat Hallel and Ahavat Yeshua congregation, is in the midst of a really busy summer schedule - family, IDF reserve duty training, finals in school, leading a Music & Worship camp for youth, gearing up for the upcoming annual Elav conference which ministers to Messianic, Arab & International youth over several days.  You can read more about the busy Jelski household, ministry & prayer requests inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Joel also shares urgent prayer needs for two close ministers in their life there in Jerusalem facing second cancer attacks in both Eddie Santoro, "our former pastor" [at Ahavat Yeshua] "who is now part of the apostolic oversight" and Esther Moore, daughter of Rick and Patti Ridings of Succat Hallel who "had faced breast cancer and also cancer in some of her lymph nodes, and also now had a relapse and has to go through a second surgery (The first surgery also caused a miscarriage). She has literally been through a nightmare with her family. Rick and Patti are with them in England until she has the surgery. Please pray for their family, they have been under so much attack.

"Also, it cannot be a coincidence that we are seeing so much cancer and relapses around us - we have to see breakthrough in Healing here in Israel and continue to believe that the Lord desires to bring a breakthrough and revival in signs and wonders in His Land."

Rania Sayegh is a Arab prophetic intercessor in Nazareth whose HOPE: House of Prayer & Exploits is emerging as a true "Deborah" in the Land. We urge you to read about the conferences that her ministry is bringing to minister to local Arab women from 23 Arab churches in Israel - with support from Israeli Messianic Jewish and International ministry women leaders.  I do not want to go into details of the upcoming Sept conference for women in public forum, but urge you to read more inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary. Also, next week I will cointinue Rania's ministry letter sharing the "Cross Pollination" portion of her letter. Watch for it!

Ron Cantor of Messiah's Mandate and Tiferet Yeshua congregation in Tel Aviv brings a report of the ordination service for Gil Afriat, a native-born Israeli, as the new local pastor. Read about the vision and ongoing committee of the Cantor's to the congregation inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

"We are making an impact in Tel Aviv!" Ron writes, "However, for the first time since I can remember we are in the red. Our general budget is just over $3,000 in the minus. I am not worried! I am not nervous! I know God has a plan and I have no doubt we will be able to continue to bless our congregation and pay everyone’s salary. I just need to be transparent with you. . . . The enemy simply hates Israel for one reason—God loves His chosen people and has a plan for her. Satan wants to stop God’s plan. God has promised end-times revival to Israel (Jer. 30, Zech. 12:10, Rev. 1:7, Rom. 11:12, 15 and 16…and more!)"

Read also Cantor's comments on the Presby Church USA that recently invited a Muslim leader to pray to Allah at their gathering, and a reader's comment on Ron's new book, The Jerusalem Secret, inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

The Kehilat Carmel Assembly in Haifa also held an ordination service recently to ordain Dani Sayeg as the senior pastor. Sayeg is also a native (sabra) Israeli. This service came in the midst of the congregations 25th year anniversary. Please continue to pray for David Davis, who established this powerful ministry on mount Carmel as he is continuing to recover from cancer treatments.

The ministry shares powerful reports of the healing of a young man who has been deaf and dumb since early childhood, and also for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on a man in one of their recent Dead Sea bus tours.  They write, "Others have reported depression leaving them, and various physical pains as well. May the Lord continue to pour out His Spirit in all our gatherings, to show forth the glory of His Name, Yeshua!"

Yes! and Amen! May the LORD look upon all the Israeli Ministries in the midst of opposition from religious persecutors within Israel, and the opposition of the nations as they stand as one with Israel and grant this prayer from Acts 4: 29-30 "Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Yeshua.”

This is a little 'old news' (7/7/16) but Maoz Ministries - Ari & Shira Sorko-Ram - prayer letter speaks about the terror attacks that left Israel reeling from a weekend of bloodshed by Palestinians. "Please continue to PRAY for protection for Israel.  Even though there has been substantial decline in the amount of terror attacks since the knives intifada began last September, the incitement from Palestinian leaders and terror organizations continues and it fuels the hatred towards Jews. Here's the deal... Not one PA leader openly condemned these attacks.  On the contrary, some of them continue openly calling for the slaughter of Jews.   PRAY for all incitement to stop. PRAY for God's mercy on Israel.  PRAY for His mercy also on the Muslims, who have fallen victims and became slaves of this murderous religion."

Personally, my conviction is that the hypocrisy of the nations in turning a blind eye to terrorism against Israel and for giving "moral equivalency" to  Palestinian terror attacks and Israel defending herself, is what has caused theses same situations to unfold in the nations. Europe is reeling from terror attacks, and the melting pot of the US not only suffers terror attacks, but a growing experience with "Intifada". I believe that the Church must lead the way to racial reconciliation, but that part of that necessarily will call for repentance of decades of hypocrisy against Israel.

Shira Sorko-Ram also shares a wonderful profile of Victor Smadja, founder of Sar-El Tours & Conferences, and owners of the Sar-El Group which owns seven businesses.  She writes, "A young Tunisian Jew who lost his father in the Holocaust was given a Bible by a Christian friend and was challenged to search the Scriptures to see if Yeshua was indeed the Messiah promised by the prophets. This young man, Victor Smadja, with the horrors of World War II still fresh, took the challenge very seriously and poured over the Scriptures for two solid years. Finally he knew in his heart that Yeshua, the Son of God, was sent to bring him salvation. As far as is known, he became the only male born again Jew in all of Tunisia. In 1956, Victor brought his fiancée Suzy to faith and three days after they were married, they moved to Israel."  Read more: A Modern Day Miracle in Israel

Evan Levine of the HaTikva Project writes, "We feel that God is calling us to greatly expand our territory to achieve maximum impact in Israel and WE NEED YOUR HELP. Our first dental clinic is up and running and full of patients. We are investigating the possibility of opening a second clinic in the North of Israel as we speak. We have just opened a scholarship fund to aid believers with tuition to become dentists and hygienists and THE MINISTRY OF WELFARE IN JERUSALEM IS SENDING THEIR CONSTITUENTS TO OUR CLINIC! We need to increase staff and go hard after the vision the Lord is communicating to us. Along with the dental ministry we continue to help poor believers throughout Israel and are working towards stepping out in completely new directions as God inspires. Would you please consider joining with us on this journey by becoming a monthly financial partner? We need you prayers and your provision."

Eric Benson is the head of the House of Victory in Haifa that is an outreach to addicted Israelis - the vision of David Davis of the Carmel Assembly, some 25 years ago. This is a key outreach of the congregation atop mount Carmel, which is known internationally as a center for prayer and worship. Eric writes about the recent anniversary celebrations, the annual Shavuot gathering of Messianic ministries to Yad Hashmona in Jerusalem, and the ongoing work of their ministry to those who had lost all hope in bondage to addictions. Eric shares the Lord's success stories inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary
and we invite you read more and pray for their House of Victory staff and outreach team.

As we reported in past weeks, Stefan and Karen Silver, who are also working in pastoral roles at the Karen-El congregation (part of the Kehilat Carmel assembly), suffered a heartbreaking loss as their daughter was still born in May. Stefan writes a touching ministry letter about their sorrow. I do not want to share further details in a public forum, but please learn more inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Israel Pochtar of the Beit Hallel congregation in Ashdod writes with a praise report from their recent New Immmigrant Humanitarian Project. "We had the honor to host more than 30 families at our New Immigrant humanitarian project on the 22nd of June. Through the financial help of our partners, we were able to bless these precious Jewish immigrants with electric fans, clothing irons, bedding, and toaster ovens. We encouraged everybody and showed them the love of God. They were filled with hope and joy as we blessed them with provisions and extended our hands in friendship, assuring them that God and the Believers are there to comfort and help them as they start their new lives in Israel." See more, including their prayer requests inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Succat Hallel's Rick Ridings sends a great praise report from their summer worship camp:  "Succat Hallel was privileged to pour into the lives of about 80 Jewish, Israeli Arab, and Palestinian youth this June.  'Dor Haba' is Hebrew for 'Next Generation', and the camp’s purpose was to envision and train teenagers in the joy of becoming worshippers."

Ridings writes, "The next opportunity to bless the youth of Israel will be through our national youth and young adult conference “ELAV” (Hebrew for “Unto Him”).  This will take place in Jerusalem 25-26 August, 2016.  You may sponsor one Jewish, Arab, or Palestinian youth for $150.  You may find directions of how to mail a check or you may give securely online on our website. Thank you for standing with us as we seek to bless the Next Generation in this Land."

Last but not least we leave you on a high note with a wonderful report from a lady who has deeply inspired us over the years for her truly life-long passion to share Yeshua with everyone she meets, 80-year old Ruth Nessim, from the Light of Galilee congregation Nahariya, near the Lebanon border. For her 80th birthday, Ruth was blessed by her family who gathered from across Israel, by ministry friends - Jewish and Arab - and with a special trip with one of her sons to Rome and Venice.

Ruth and her departed husband, Albert, were one of the pioneering believer families in Israel.  Today several of their children are carrying on the heritage of ministry in Israel.  Ruth is a special sweetheart of the Lord and you will enjoy reading how the Lord blessed her through so many for her 80th birthday. AND at the end of it, she returned home to the good news from the hospital that  her final Pet Test revealed no trace of cancer of the Lymph glands!  Read this encouraging letter in full inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Threatening Legislation for Believers in Russia: Praying for "Lights" in a Darkening Sky.
by Martin Sarvis in Jerusalem

This past week, Vladimir Putin inked legislation into law in Russia which, under the guise of fighting terrorism, would actually serve to silence the very army whose voices are its greatest enemy.  Mr. Putin is perhaps unaware of the very real spiritual warfare which rages in “heavenly places” in this world, including the nation over which he serves presently as leader.  Nor is he likely cognizant of the “powers” in that war which are pleased to make use of his personal ambitions in order to control and “carry him along” for their own  malevolent purposes.  Read in full, including prayer points, inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 7/6/2016

Priority Prayer Focus Jul 6, 2016

FRESH START

It's a New Day as Israelprayer
ARROWS from ZION

is about to begin our 16th year
of weekly gleaning the prayer requests of Israeli Ministries

Our mission has been simple: to awaken the worldwide Body of Christ to the existence and significance of their spiritual brethren, the body of believers in Yeshua in Israel. Despite the widespread skepticism in the Church, it is by Divine plan that God has Sovereignly raised up a Body of Messiah in Israel since the re-birth of the modern State of Israel in 1948 - and He has big plans for them which the Church has a role to play in.

In 1948 there were approximately 100 Jewish believers in Jesus in Israel. Today there is an estimated 18,000 and interest in the Israeli public about this loyal citizens of Israel, whose lives shine with the glory of the LORD, has never been greater.  With that, of course, comes the persecution from religious Jews who are very like the person we first read about in the book of Acts, Shaul, before his Damascus Road experience opened his eyes to the truth of Yeshua's identity - Messiah of Israel.

I believe we are entering into a new day in the fulfillment of the "one new man" in Messiah which Shaul, who become known as Paul, as he reversed his persecution of Jewish believers in Yeshua/Jesus and became known for his incredibly effective apostolic outreach to the gentiles. Paul wrote in the book of Romans - therefore specifically to the gentiles - the Divine plan which God's Holy Spirit had revealed to him about the joining of the Church and the Messianic Jews before the Messiah's return to earth and the Millennial Kingdom.

Precisely because we are entering an advanced stage of those things, persecution against the believers in Israel is rising again - "the birth pangs of the Messiah" it is called. Like a woman's labor to deliver, the ministry is Israel has both periods of rest followed by intense pressures. The role of the Church is to come alongside to help bear that burden spiritually and materially.

We have never been at a lack to find Christians who will rally behind Israel politically against a whole world set against her - and that must certainly continue. However, it is high time to rally the Church around the spiritual issues at stake here which is the plan of God to bring salvation by Yeshua through His laborers in the vineyard of Israel - the Messianic Jewish believers. We must stand by them.

You will notice some changes in this ARROWS from ZION site and the first being that I am doing away with publishing pictures of the Israeli believers.  This will be a photo-free site from now on. Some of the believers have pictures everywhere on the web and are well known to the persecutors; others keep a low profile to avoid problems. For the sake of safety I have decided to cease publishing photos of the believers on an open forum like this.

I have always loved being able to bring pictures of the believers in Israel in order to make them more real to you - but it is time to circle the wagons around the more vulnerable, so that is what will be the situation on this new site.  (Pictures will continue to appear in the subscription-only Weekly Summary) and we will still bring you the prayer requests we receive each week from the ministries in Israel.  We ask you to pray along with us, take them into your heart for they are running a race that will set in motion a worldwide spiritual blessing.

CORRECTION: Last week we incorrectly summarized Shirya Yahav's report about an accident involving the pastor of the Tiberias Peniel Fellowship, Daniel Yahav. I summarized that Yahav had actually been hit by the car but was unhurt. That's not exactly what happened - sometimes it is not so easy to get a good idea from the description of an event. What actually happened was the on-coming car miraculously hit a pole INSTEAD of the Daniel's car. Still 'close call' enough to realize God's protection and to praise Him for it! Thanks to Arni Klein for pointing out the 'lost in translation' to me.  -Donna Diorio

From the Carmel congregation in Haifa we have a great report on their Shavuot/Feast of Weeks celebrations and the concept of "Firstfruits".  Also Dani Sayeg was anointed in a special service during Shavuot by David Davis and Peter Tsukahira for his new role as the lead pastor of Kehilat HaCarmel. He has been in an associate pastoral position in the Carmel congregation for many years and served as the lead pastor at Karem El, part of the Carmel network. Sayeg will continue to pastor the Karem El congregation, together with Yonatan Arnold and Stefan Silver, as a new generation begins to step into their leadership roles in the HaCarmel network of ministries.  Please pray for all these leaders as they adjust to new levels of authority and responsbility. They also ask prayers over their outreaches among the congregation seeking to build strong relationships within the body.

From the Jerusalem Institute of Justice' Calev Myers, a pleas to join in their Battle Against Anti-Semitism. You may, or may not know, that the JIJ is a group of human rights attorneys in Israel who are also believers. I have said this many times before, but it is my honest belief that Calev Myers walks in a strong "Daniel anointing". Not only he is accepted in government and legal circles for his outstanding advocacy for Israel, but he is also an openly Messianic Jewish believer in Yeshua. His example in not only defending the rights of believers in Israel but also Israel itself in the highest echelons of government powers in the world, is a shining example for many.

Learn more about the ministry inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary and also the official request JIJ has made to the State Prosecutor in Belgium to indict a Belgium police officer who wrote on his Facebook page: "The word Jew itself is dirty. If I were in Israel, frankly, I would do to the Jews what they do with the Palestinians — slaughter each and every one of them."  Myers wisely noted:  "We should never underestimate the power of words, especially when spoken by people in authority. Anti-Semitic incidents are more prevalent today in Western Societies than they have been since the 1930's."

The Yuval Messianic Worship Center for Music & the Arts (IIrit Ifert, Jael Kalisher and Alex Atlas) is sponsored by the King of Kings, HaChotam Publishing and the Jerusalem Assembly- House of Redemption in the heart of Jerusalem. Now on summer break, these trainers of the next generation of leaders and worship leaders in Israel are busy planning their way forward for the coming year with new and old students. Many of you share their ministry heart for training children and teens in worship arts. Learn how you can be a part of this valuable work inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

In a monthly ministry update from Eddie and Jackie Santoro of Ahavat Yeshua (The Love of Yeshua) congregation in Jerusalem, Eddie writes about "Relationship, relationship, relationship". In their ministry, they have seen it manifested in 3 avenues: Praying for Each Other | Sharing God's Love With Each Other | Sharing God's Love With Unbelievers |  Read Eddie's exhortation inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Please continue to pray for Eddie Santoro as he faces a new type of cancer in his tonsils and begins a new round of treatment. It is quite obvious to me that we are seeing unprecedented levels of spiritual warfare against the most effective ministries in Israel. This is what our Israel Prayer Mission is about, my friends. It is not only standing by the State of Israel, it is standing by the Remnant of Israel seeking to bring "all Israel" into the safety of relationship with God through Yeshua.  Each week we bring a list of the Israeli ministry leaders who are in need of prayer for health battles - many extremely serious.  Let us keep these men and women's health before the throne of God.

Chaya, wife of Avi Mizrachi of the Adonai Roi congregation and Dugit outreach in Tel Aviv writes for prayer for a week of ministry in Israel they are hosting from a First Nations group of Polynesian dancers and musicians. They will be performing all week and have stirred up much interest even from local media and government officials. Called "Island Breeze" Chaya writes, "They have a deep love and care for Israel and the people of Israel. Island Breeze uses their unique cultural expressions to glorify God, restoring dignity and self-worth to many." Please pray for an effective outreach that will touch Israelis.

Israel has suffered a series of terror attacks during Ramadan - not that you would know it if you listened only to media outside of Israel. Brain Slater of Abundant Bread of Salvation in Netanya wrote us last week that one of the attacks occurred literally just outside the door of their outreach center's front door. Brian was inside, heard the gun shots and began to pray.  This is how close our brothers and sisters in Israel are to life threatening danger.  When we started Israelprayer in August of 2001, it was in the midst of an intifada. Through that first year of praying for believers, I cannot tell you how many times we got reports of believers who were in immediate proximity to all kinds of terrorist bombings and other attacks. Prayers for their safety DO make a difference!  Please pray and read more about Brian's ministry inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary Here is a radio interview Brian Slater did while in the UK recently.

In the Yeshua's Inheritance congregation in Beer Sheva, Howard Bass writes, "The teens and some of the soldiers of Nachalat Yeshua (Yeshua's Inheritance) held a worship evening at their own initiative last week. They wanted to draw near to God through praise, and to take some time to pray more freely, including for their city of Beer Sheva.  We are really excited by the good bonding between this group of growing young people, and of their maturing interest in the  things of God concerning the practical application of His will in and through their lives.  They tell me, too, that when they go to a conference, others are asking how is it that so many teens come together from Beer Sheva?!  What is going on 'down there'?  Please keep these 'children' in your prayers. They are in the midst of the struggle between those who serve the Lord and those who do not. These are they among whom we trust the Lord Yeshua for the future of the congregation."

Howard also gives a great background on the development of believer summer camps in Israel:  "The summer camps begin next week for believers from around the country. There are several camps to choose from during the two-month school vacation (the chofesh ha-gadol/the big vacation!).  One of the Israeli university students in the congregation, Ayala, is one of a team taking full responsibility for an entire camp, The Potter's Wheel, which is an English-speaking camp (with some Hebrew).  Our son, Evan, is responsible for the 3rd and 4th graders at another camp for an entire week, with about 12 camp counselors under his supervision. This week he is one of the counselors at Netzor, a pre-army camp for those high-school graduates about to enter the military.  Please pray for all of these high-quality camps, that the directors and staffs and campers would all be built up through godly instruction and fellowship with others."  See more news from the ministry See more inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Mazal Tov to Howard Bass as he has been appointed to serve as a full board member of Caspari Center for Biblical and Jewish Studies.  In this role, I will also be the local Israeli representative on the board.  Some of you  may be familiar with the Media Review which Caspari puts out weekly, an English translation of all articles in the Israeli media which are about Christians and Messianic Jews, Jewish-Christian attitudes and relations, archeology which is of Biblical interest

Martin Sarvis in Jerusalem writes eloquently of the impact of Elie Wiesel on his understanding of the Jewish experience of the Holocaust. In a New York Times editorial following Wiesel's death last Saturday, the editors write: ""Elie Wiesel was a champion of human rights, a symbol of hope, a writer of unmatched eloquence and the very conscience of the world."  Sarvis writes, "Eli Wiesel was a gentle man—yet in his convictions heroically strong.  His beautiful memoirs “All Rivers Run to the Sea / And the Sea is Never Full” glows with wisdom and humanity. We are grateful for the window granted us in his vision."

Sarvis then turns his eye to the "grim season" of the month long Ramadan which ends tomorrow (Thursday). Sarvis writes about the terror attacks in the nations, and also those "episodes from hell" that have taken place in Israel throughout the month of Ramadan.  He writes, "...covenant is really what the battle is about, both in Israel and abroad.  Our God is a God of LIFE (El Hai—Hosea 1:10).  His covenants are covenants of life on behalf of all Humankind which He has made in His image.  Any covenant coming against His life-covenants are by definition covenants of death.

"As pointed out in a recent Update, the powers set against God’s covenant are epitomized in Scripture by the people called Amalek (Exodus 17:8-16).  God has sworn to be at war with this covenant-hating spirit “from generation to generation” until its very memory is destroyed.  The religious system of Islam teaches that the covenant of its god came through Ishmael (celebrated during the festival of Eid al-Adha next September 10th).  This is in direct opposition to what is revealed in Genesis 17:18-22—that the covenant of Elohim must come through Isaac.

"In the spiritual battle raging against both God’s covenant with Israel and the New Covenant for all children of Adam  in the blood of Yeshua (Jesus), our Banner is the LORD’s promise that we are not alone, but He “will have war against Amalek from generation to generation—until its memory is utterly blotted out from under heaven."

We have an extra long issue this week but quite honestly there are so many powerful things happening among the believers in Israel, and last but not least is the report we have from Arab Christian pastor Najeeb Atteih in Haifa of the Immanuel Church and Bookshop. Pastor Najeeb shares some especially wonderful news about ministry among the refugees from Syria in both Europe and in Jordan. I'm not kidding: you NEED to read this entire ministry report inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary because God is doing many powerful things as Arabs are fleeing from the brutality of ardent Islamists, into the loving kindness of Christians ministering to them.

Be blessed and encouraged as you read because as "all Israel" continues to be saved, so also will the harvest in the nations increase!

Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue

Local Muslim Leader prays to Allah at Presbyterian Gathering | The most recent Presbyterian Church USA meeting acknowledged a new member of sorts—the ‘Prophet’ Muhammad. Wajidi Said was invited to pray to the Muslim God.

“Allah bless us and bless our families and bless our Lord. Lead us on the straight path—the path of all prophets: Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad.”

“In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful, let us praise the Lord… Peace be upon them and peace be upon Allah,” Said continued his prayer at the Presbyterian assembly. He was generous to also lift up the “bigots” and “Islamaphobes.”

He conveniently left out praying for “radical Islamic terrorists” because in our self-denying culture two lies are embraced:

Radical Islamic terrorists are not Muslims, when in fact they are truer to the Koran than moderates. And anyone who thinks that terrorism has anything to do with the Koran (even though 99% of all terrorist attacks last year were perpetrated by those who identify as Muslims) is an “Islamaphobe.”

The attack in Orlando (the reason the Muslim leader was invited to pray at the Presbyterian gathering) was perpetrated by a bigot and a homophobe—not a Islamic terrorist. (Are they going to blame the Turkey attack that killed 40 on the NRA or Homophobes too?)   Click to read more

ARROWS from ZION 2016 Jul 6

FRESH START

It's a New Day as Israelprayer's
ARROWS from ZION

is about to begin our 16th year
of gleaning the prayer requests of Israeli Ministries
on a weekly basis.

Our mission has been simple: to awaken the
worldwide Body of Christ to the existence and significance of their spiritual brethren, the body of believers in Yeshua in Israel. Despite the widespread skepticism in the Church, it is by Divine plan that God has Sovereignly raised up a Body of Messiah in Israel since the re-birth of the modern State of Israel in 1948 - and He has big plans for them which the Church has a role to play in.
