Weekly ARROWS from ZION 8/17/2016

Our 15th Anniversary Issue
Serving the Body of Messiah in Israel since August 2001

Last year as we were embarking on our 15th year of providing weekly summaries of the prayer requests of Israeli Ministries I wrote that I never imagined I would look up one day to realize I would still be doing this 14 years later. Yet here we are again, stepping over into our 16th year.

As much as I sensed that this prayer summary was God-ordained in its launch just a few weeks prior to the devastating attack on the US on 9/11/2001, today  I believe it is even more so.  The things to be learned from  these prayer requests each week are meant by God to help the faithful in the nations not only to lay hold of His good intent toward Israel, but also for what God has placed in them to be a unique blessing for the rest of the international body of believers. The Israeli Remnant have a mighty understanding of what it means to sacrifice for the sake of bringing the gospel to their nation and knowing such deep commitment is something we all will need in the tough days that lie ahead worldwide. They have things of the Spirit that God has uniquely placed in them for us.

So often God uses you the most when you are the least aware of it.  I think this is the case today of many Israeli ministries, unaware that their own lives, struggles and overcoming will speak volumes to the international Church. I believe their example in our day is much the same as the Bible says the examples of the lives of the ancient Israelites were to be for an example to us. The Israeli Remnant may see themselves as small in the sight of the international mega churches, but like little Israel surrounded in a sea of hostile enemies of God, they are walking with great grace as the called out Remnant  of Israel, filled with faith, courage and hope - an example that many are beginning to recognize as such.  It is an honor to receive what God has placed uniquely in you for the sake of the whole Body of Christ in the earth.  I believe that you are the last missing piece of God's mysterious plan to lock into place. For myself, our journey together will continue to the finish - mine, yours and ours.

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.
 Romans 15:4

You show that you are a letter from Messiah...written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.  2 Corinthians 3:3

Kicking off this week with an excellent word from Tents of Mercy Eitan Shishkoff,  on Mutual Humility "Humility begets humility. Repentance begets repentance. Love begets love."  Eitan writes, "How shall we enter into His end-time plan together? God is calling us into levels of cooperation we have only begun to glimpse - on every level - from the personal to the familial, to the congregational, to the regional and beyond.  This will take mutual humility.  "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up" (James 4:10). "

The summer camps for kids and teens are still going on and these are really important interactions for the teens in believing families. Martin Sarvis wrote this week about the Dor Haba worship camp they had in late June for Jewish and Arab young people. Also the Katzir, or Harvest, camp that Eitan Shishkoff oversees twice a year for the teens with many former campers, now young adults, serving in the important get times with each other and God. This camp just wrapped up but we have the Elav (Unto Him) conference on Aug 25-26; Israel Pochtar's regional youth conference called AWAKE 16.

All of these camps are so important to the young people in the Messianic Israel  community. For one thing because they are still in such a minority, they rarely get to worship or even socialize with so many fellow followers of Yeshua. They go to schools where they might be the only believer in the school . If you remember anything about your teenage years, then you can comprehend why these events are so essential to their spiritual health and growth. Please pray for the events upcoming, and for the events that have already wrapped up - that lasting fruit would be produced in the lives of these young people - whose next stop after graduating high school is their IDF military service. This is time to forge strong faith.   Read more details about the various camps inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Evan Thomas writes from Netanya, the Beit Asaph congregation, about their remarkable year of 2016, with the leaders passing milestone birthdays like 50, 60's...(I'll just stop there).  Evan is about 90% recovered from his terrible arm fractures and Maala is retiring from her 33 yr career as an educator, it looks like to dive fully into ministry from the sound of her itinerary over the next few months.

Evan and Maala took part in a Christian event over the summer in Denmark, Evan writing, "It was our first time serving the Danish Church and it left us with deep and positive impressions. Of the approximately 6,000 participants, over 50% were under the age of 20. While the older generation has a deep interest in Israel and a love for the Jewish people, the younger set has a different of priorities and is questioning this strong emphasis of their parents. In attempt to 'bridge' the generational gap, we were invited to bring a balanced perspective by challenging some of the existing paradigms. It was a great privilege to serve the community. "

This is a certain prayer point: for preservation and strength in marriages... and throughout the family relationships. When we read the Hebrew scriptures we see that there were many trying family relationships for the majority of people we know so well in the Bible as faithful men and women.  Is there any closer way for the enemy to try to wear us down than through our closest family relationships?  Please pray for all family relationships among the believers.

From KehilaNewsIsrael (who we hear now is now getting 100,000 visits a month, with 65,000 different viewers), we have several articles from Israeli ministries of interest:
Melody of Eternity: A Messianic Music School for Children in Haifa by Leon Mazin | The Apple of God’s Eye | by Orna Grinman.  And I especially want to draw attention to the article by my friend Rachel Scapa who sheds great light on a situation that plagues so many of the Israeli ministries who rent facilities for their congregational meetings, and have to go through a lot of the "wandering Jew" experience. They are often forced to find new facilities and it is no easy process for them to purchase their own facility. Rachel walks us through the territory with her interview of Liron Shani, one of the pastors of Kehilat HaDerech, (The Way) in Karmiel No Easy Way to the New Home of Kehilat HaDerech

From David Lazarus (actually form the Children & Family Coordinator) for Beit Immaneul in Jaffa, an excellent report on their special evening bringing together the elderly family members, friends and congregants to be blessed and honored by the young people of the congregation. It was a time for really learning about each other that sounds exceptionally orchestrated to bridge the generational divide. Am I  old? Try This!

Eddie Santoro of Ahavat Yeshua, Love of Yeshua writes about being at the hald-point of his weekly bio-chemo transfusions and daily radiation treatments. Eddie remains hopeful and in faith, but would love the prayers of the saints as the pain in his throat is pretty intense and doctors say the next month would be "hell". Please read the specific prayer requests and report inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary
The attack of various types of cancers on the Israeli ministry leaders over the past 3 years has been too many to be coincidence: Please lift them up for healing, grace and full lives.

From the Revive Israel Team, An audio message from Asher Intrater Redefining the Ekklesia as One-New-Man and Faithfulness & Covenantal Relationships.  From Dan Juster Biblical Standards for Divorce and Remarriage. There is a prayer request for the Revive team in China inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary, and a short video introducing another Revive Israel Team member Meet the Team: Liat

What a great milestone the HaTikva Dental Clinic just passed with 1000 treatments given already. Evan Levine says they are a "boldly Messianic, non-profit dental clinic in Jerusalem" and what an opportunity "to provide compassionate care in the name of Yeshua to Israeli’s many of whom have never personally met or interacted with a local, Messianic believer." There is already talk of a potential to bring the same to northern Israel - but let's face it: they really need our help to develop even greater reach. Still they've accomplished so much! Read all about it inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Avi Mizrachi and the Dugit team in Tel Aviv have an upcoming outreach among the refugees in Greece. We must keep all details under wraps but they desire your prayer cover:  "That the Holy Spirit would prepare the hearts of both those that will be ministering as well as the refugees that will experience the Love of God and the Gospel of Yeshua for the first time." Pray for safety for the team, power of the Holy Spirit, and anointing for Avi to encourage the local believers."

Howard Bass in the Beer Sheva congregation says they have a lot of "going in and going out" for ministry or vacations right now that requires grace and flexibility over the next few months - would love your prayers.  He also writes, "The school year is soon to begin, and most of us send our sheep into the midst of wolves, which we are sure you understand.  It is fraught with danger, and provides a proving ground for parents and for the children to know their identity as called and chosen by God to be, among other things, witnesses for Yeshua in an environment that seems less safe each passing year."

Howard also writes, "This news is another example of the battle raging in the heavenlies, and on the Earth.
What is going on behind the scenes?  For more of the doings in Yeshua's Inheritance congregation, read more inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Last but not least, Israel Pochtar of the Ashdod congregation Beit Hallel writes about their 21 Days of Prayer walking in the city currently in progress. He also shares an opportunity for 2 weeks volunteer service with the Israeli Defense Forces for  non-Israelis.  You will have to write them for details because I did not have the room to share the graphic that provides all the information. Get the contact information inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

They also ask prayers for an upcoming Gospel tour to Galilee and outreach with 200 non believers. Pray for open hearts, salvation, healing; and Church building renovations are officially underway"

Praying the Headlines  The Spirit Behind Mein Kampf is Stirring by Martin Sarvis in Jerusalem

"
. . . .For all the pages of material in Mein Kampf I scanned and flipped past that day in the library, I came away with really one terrible and lasting impression—he hated Jews. And he expressed this hatred in rhetoric which gave the impression that he truly believed it to be the most natural and rational viewpoint in the world."  Read online

Teaching Articles The Secret to Seeing Your Prayers Answered | by Ron Cantor

"....Let’s be honest. If I pray right now in the name of Yeshua for a million-dollar house (albeit in Tel Aviv that won’t buy much) it is not going to happen. If I ask God for a yacht, using the name of Yeshua like it is the New Covenant equivalent of “Abracadabra”, it is not going to work.

"There two reasons why. First, everything we receive God is supposed to come from and through a loving relationship with him, not through executing a formula. And the second reason, which is what we want to focus on today, is issue of God’s will." Read more online

WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 8/10/2016

From August 2001 to August 2016 Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests from Israeli Ministries

Once again we have twice as many prayer letters
as we can squeeze into this Summary. Next Week!

Priority Prayer Focus Aug 10, 2016
Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue

Please keep in prayer the Israeli believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs:

Speak death to every cancer cell which has been attacking God's servants even multiple times in order to cut off the gospel from their mouths! God is greater than even cancer arising twice!

PLEASE Pray for ANOTHER MIRACLE:  Shelly M, Israeli pastor Eitan's wife whom doctors have sent home to die as cancer has returned to a new place in her body;  Eddie Santoro - a new form of cancer unrelated to the brain cancer;  We also received prayer requests for Jacob Damkani who was to have surgery today (after life-threatening medical incident 1 year ago). Doctors have re-assessed & will try to treat it for a week without surgery. Please pray issue will be resolved without more surgery. This is a fight of faith - press in with them!

Rick Ridings daughter, Esther Moore just had second surgery for cancer; Ruth Nessim has received a clean bill of health from cancer treatment: pray it does not rise up a 2nd time; same prayers for David Davis recovering from cancer treatment; David O., Ami (unhealed wounds), Long term disease battles:  Leah; an unnamed forefather of Messianic Judaism; Moshe M. Ghazi, the son of an Arab pastor, who is suffering from Leukemia. Judy, wife of pastor Yaakov K;  Evan Thomas in still painful occupational therapy phase after serious arm fractures; Richard Hyde, Eddie Beckford, Claude Ezagouri; Rachel Slater; Patti, wife of Dan Juster; Baruch and Karen Maayan; Michael E and unnamed Israel-related ministers.  Pray also for Tal Bass. Miriam Abramov, incisional hernia, Ronen a congregant & faithful volunteer in the Tiferet Yeshua Tel Aviv congregation. Kati at Maoz who was hurt in a fall on the street.

Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel
Contact info for all the ministries included inside the subscription-only Weekly Summary.

We kicked off the prayer summary this week by Prioritizing the Urgent Healing Needs with the Israeli body and specifically the life threatening attacks against so many ministry leaders. Please be like a laser beam focus on these urgent prayer needs.

Guy Cohen, the pastor of the Acco congregation, Harvest of Asher in the Tents of Mercy network in northern Israel. Guy writes:  "I witnessed a conversation between a soldier who came to console the mother of a fellow soldier who had been killed in battle. He told her that he was with her son when the rocket hit. Her son was instantly killed and he was injured. I looked into the eyes of that 19 year old boy and saw confusion, guilt, suffering and questions. I could see the self-blame as he said,  'It should have been me and not him'.  The mother, who loved her child, was comforting the soldier. She had lost her son and yet was encouraging his friend who was suffering to the depth of his soul.

"In a way this is a parallel for us" he writes, "when we stand before Yeshua in a time that we see the world change from a safe planet into a planet engulfed in war and chaos....
Believers need to stay in a deep relationship with Yeshua, listening to His voice and He will guide us to the fountains of living waters in the times of chaos."

Also from northern Israel, Eric Benson who runs the House of Victory for the Carmel congregation, writes that he has enjoyed a refreshing summer holiday in the US along with his two daughters - a chance to rest and visit with family members in the USA. He reports that he is delighted with how the HOV ministry has continued in all its ministry efforts in his absence and reports on their activities and prayer requests which you can read inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary.

If you didn't know inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary each week we also include contact and donation information for each of the Israeli ministries featured in Arrows from Zion.

Eric writes his prayer over the House of Victory: "In the intense heat of an Israeli Summer, may the leadership of the house continue to stand in the gap. It is a gap between life and death. May the Lord strengthen the inner most being of our staff. The only way this can happen is that the power of His love fills us afresh. It is our prayer together that we ask the Lord for His touch upon our lives."

Howard Bass of the Yeshua's Inheritance congregation in the Negev city of Beer Sheva, being a dual Israeli-American citizen, has been watching the election process in the USA and has the same assessment many of us hold (not encouraged!). He writes, "May God have mercy and shake up His people!"  Howard goes on to write about a recent evening as he and four other fathers met one night to encourage a sixth young man about to become a first time father. I don't think I've ever heard of this before, but what a great idea to call the fears of one about to embark on one of the most major responsibilities a man ever faces. This should really become a thing!

Howard writes that this month three of their young congregational leaders (Evan, Tal & Victor) are off to Frances with a group of Israeli for training and discipleship. He asks prayers for them, and also for Yakov, who is a deacon and treasurer for Yeshua's Inheritance. Yakov's "tent-making" job is as a "tour bus evangelism" driver (tours that we have written about in the past that are so effective).  Because donations are down, many of the planned tours over the next 3-4 months have been cancelled. The outside Israel funding of outreaches like this are so important, and you see the trickle-down effect. Pray for these evangelistic outreaches to be fully funded, and those connected with operating them to also be blessed.

Bass has a couple of writings of interest that he shares in this ministry letter: "Many of you may have heard that the Palestinian leadership and Arab League want to sue Britain for issuing the Balfour Declaration in 1917, blaming them for all of the present troubles here since the Jewish people have been legally returning to their homeland. Also, after hearing once again about Daniel's 70 weeks being explained in connection with its starting point and the timing of Yeshua's death, I wrote something here.   And, I just finished reading a very interesting book by a professor at Ben-Gurion Univ of the Negev, called Coincidences in the Bible and in the Hebrew Language.  A recent movie was done to illustrate and highlight some of the fascinating findings of Prof. Haim Shore.  I have written a bit of a critique on it here, and given a link to the movie."

The God's Vineyard (Karem-El) congregation in northern Israel  are excited to report the baptism of two new believers and about their once a month home groups that meet on places like the beach for worship, prayer and fellowship. The idea is to take it out into the light of day so their gatherings can be a witness to others.  The congregation has a Meet Our Families spotlight which we will not share in a public forum, but you can read about along with some of their other activities an specific prayer requests this month inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary .

One request I will share with you because it is such a widespread need within the community of faith in Israel:  "Please pray for families who are struggling to make ends meet - for God to open doors to good jobs and for blessing and financial provision."

Arni and Yonit Klein from Emmaus Way in the Galilee have so much to share about the Galilee Worship Gatherings they have been hosting in their village so near where much of gospels took place on the Sea of Galilee, or Kinneret as it is known in Hebrew. Arni shares a words that came out of the June group that they hosted, which were words about the Jordan River and Gethesmane - the places where Jesus' ministry began, and also where if ended in His earthly walk.  Please read the full understanding they drew out of it, and also the prophetic element that they experienced in their July gathering as well,
inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary.

Kobi and Shani (Sorko-Ram) Ferguson are headed to the US with their ever increasing family of adorable children, to minister on, among other things, the generational vision for family message that God has given them.  It is quite something to see their young children so eager to interact with people and pray from them in the services where their parents have been ministering. They write, "During our last ministry trip as a family in the summer of 2015, we heard amazing testimonies of how blessed people were when our kids prayed for them and how penetrating their words were. But the best part was seeing the light go on in the hearts of parents - especially the fathers - who said in watching our family in action (not just hearing our message), they became excited about discipling their own families." Catch them if you can! Inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary you can find contact info if you want them to come speak to your group or church between 9/1 and 10/27.

Shani also has an article called Hebrew Myths 101

From the sound of Rachel Boskey's personal ministry letter this month, Avner and the Boskey's have been really busy with speaking engagements in Norway, France, the Negev and Jerusalem. Now they are on their way to the USA for 3 weeks, through August 27. You can get the itinerary by emailing the ministry, details inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Avner has a basic message that he likes to teach outside of Israel with three points he considers critical. Those are listed in the Weekly Summary, but here is also a short video of Avner speaking about these points.  They give us an update on the ministry activities of all their children, the continued plans for the Ezekiel 37 Training Institute, and Avner found time to write a new book called, How to be Messianic without being Meshuggeh* (*crazy), is a practical, bottom-line encouragement to believers who choose to identify with Israel and the Jewish people and who by faith have joined the ‘commonwealth of Israel.’
It should be available by October - we will keep you posted.

Rachel Netanel writes from Ein Karim, outside of Jerusalem about the ministry God has given her husband Gilad and herself. They have a house that is quite a draw itself, but there is also a powerful anointing that God has placed on this native Israeli to be able to share the good news of Messiah with anyone God puts in her pathway.  I am always encouraged reading Rachel's ministry letters - which I will not share in a public forum to protect the work of God that is going on in so many of the lives - but you can read about them inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary.

Maybe you are interested, but you don't think you have the time to read the Weekly Summary. Let me encourage you to print a copy out every once in a while and put it in a place where you have quiet time, or maybe where you could read while soaking in a warm bath.  You will learn things that will truly bless you.

I hope you have been noticing the Tikkun network in Israel which is such a great model of how an apostolic ministry network operates.  This is something that has been grown up from an infancy level to current level for over 30 years and it is just emerging as something that I for one believe is a model to keep our eyes on.  Asher Intrater, the director of Tikkun and head of his personal Revive Israel ministry writes, "The idea of the restoration of apostolic ministry teams around the world raises a certain degree of controversy; and even more so Messianic apostolic ministry here in Israel. Consider a few thoughts in approaching the topic in Introduction to Apostolic Ministry Teams

Also from the  Revive Team, Cody Archer explains how their media team has grown up from nothing since 2011, as Revive team members began to get the education and training they needed to take hold of the various aspects of social media that Revive Israel is now blessed to see growing and increasing their reach to the four corners of the earth. It is an interesting read included inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary
