WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 1/17/2018

Priority Prayer Focus Jan 17, 2018

Micah 6:8 reads, "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?"

We have our hands full to walk in the requirements of God, doing justice, loving kindness and being humble by God's estimation rather than man's estimation, don't we? Our hearts can deceive us, but our true motives are always clearly seen by God.  Even people who believe in and follow the LORD forget how our Father is seeing us clearly every moment. We may fool ourselves and fool other people, but we never fool God about what motivates us to court injustice, act unkindly and present a false humility.

Living according to God's requirements is a form of worship. Perhaps even the highest form because it is possible to sing God's praises then live in a way that breaks what He wants to see in our lives. Praying that we all live up to what Micah spoke prophetically that God wants from us. If we live in such a way, will the life of Yeshua not surely shine brightly from our lives?

I loved this true story from Ron Cantor and Asher Intrater this week called Delivery Man. "The word Shaliach, שליח, has several meanings in modern Hebrew:  apostle, public servant, anyone with a sense of divine mission or purpose, and even a delivery man." You can read it inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Also, Asher Intrater addresses the belief many have that the end times holds only persecution , tribulation and antichrist but not widespread revival. Read this article as Intrater explains why he sees both Victory and Persecution in Revelation (the lat book of the Bible). You should also view his video A Balanced View of Apostolic Ministry as the controversy surrounding apostles and prophets in our day is back in the spotlight. Asher clarifies misconceptions in, "what we believe and what we don't believe" about apostolic and prophetic ministry.

Please keep Richard and Carolyn Hyde in top priority of prayer as they continue to have to battle religious persecution by the Israeli Ministry of Interior which wants to revoke Carolyn's citizenship on the basis of her faith in Yeshua/Jesus.  That would create a domino effect throughout her family, who are also Israeli citizens having given birth to many of Carolyn and Richard's grandchildren there.  Read the details of the most recent developments inside the attached subscription-only DOCX Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests from Israeli Ministries. You will find other news from the Hydes there as they press on in their high calling before the LORD.

Just so you know, what the Hydes are facing is not an isolated incident. This happens continually in Israel due to the power of the religious parties. And not only that, but there are many expressions of religious persecution that have been happening for years and are happening currently. The fact that such religious persecution is illegal does not stop it from happening. We know of issues in bureaucratic  delays on permits that have troubled Messianic congregations renovations progress; or mobs gathering in often violent protest of Messianic congregations - this week Howard Bass describes what is currently going on in Dimona. These are major issues for prayer. With moving ahead with the testimony of Yeshua in Israel, there are persecutions. We are those assigned to hold up the arms of all those who are laboring in God's vineyard with the Good News.

Arni and Yonit Klein call 2018 "A Time of Extraordinary Potential".  Arni writes, "Isn’t it remarkable that fifty years after Jerusalem was restored to Jewish control the US President recognizes it as Israel’s capital? There is something more to be said for the timing of President Trump’s announcement. It was a moment of decided prophetic significance. On the Hebrew calendar the date was Kislev 19. Beyond coincidence… beyond amazing…it was on the 19th of Kislev in 1949 that Ben Gurion first designated Jerusalem as the capital of Israel!" That's not all because Klein goes on to note many other prophetic milestones inside the Weekly Summary attachment.

Arni also notes, "Of quite a different spirit, but notably dramatic, the orthodox-controlled Ministry of the Interior is taking their war against the believing community to new levels.  In addition to refusing citizenship to Jews because of belief in Yeshua, they are now threatening to attempt to take away the citizenship of Messianic believers who said they were Jewish at the time of their immigration. Their premise is that in light of a rabbinic ruling that believing in Yeshua constitutes a change of religion, to believe in Yeshua and say you are Jewish is to have falsely represented oneself.  The absurdity of it all is no less than Israel needing to agree with the world’s assertion that we have no historical relation to Jerusalem. For the MOI to actually be able to remove one’s citizenship would require a court ruling.  In point of fact, the Attorney General has already declared such an act to be illegal, especially where the relevant statute of limitations has expired. The MOI ignore the law and care nothing for truth and justice; yet they hold a pivotal place in the government coalition, such that the Prime Minister essentially allows them to do whatever they want." This is for intercession because the religious parties have the Prime Minister over a barrel. Read more in the Weekly Summary.

Love this from the Trumpet of Salvation, evangelist Jacob Damkani's ministry: "2018 - two thousand - yod-chet: chai - life! ....As the busyness and noise of 2017 fade into the twilight of our memories, our hearts and minds are focused optimistically on the new things to come. The year 2018 is upon us. 2018 - two thousand - yod-chet: chai - life!" So the number 18 is a symbol of "giving the gift of life". That sounds pretty promising for the year ahead, don't you think?

Since December theaters in Israel have been showing the Hollywood-production style movie of Jacob Damkani's life, how God plucked him up out of a "gangster" life and made him one of Israel's first modern day evangelists. The movie is called A New Spirit and will shortly move into DVD and other forms of distribution in Israel. The ministry could use your help to reach more Israelis with the movie and Damkani's book, "Why Me?" They will even send your Israeli friends a free copy of the book - details inside the Weekly Summary attachment          . See also Why Me? Online version ?למה דווקא אני  and New Spirit - The Movie Trailer. There is also an invite to come to Israel to help spread the Good News in short term opportunities.

The Sorko-Ram Maoz Ministries began this week with the horrible news of a terrorist driving by shooting attack on a 35-year old rabbi, the father of six who died from his wounds. They write, "This attack came on the day Israel's Defense Ministry released data on how much the Palestinian Authority is paying the families of killed or wounded terrorists, as well as Palestinian prisoners and their families.  The report states that in 2017, the PA paid them about 7% of their overall budget—some $350 million. While the average wage in Judea and Samaria (under PA's rule) is a little over NIS 2,000 (less than $600), a terrorist serving 20 years to life will receive NIS 10,950 (just over $3,150) every month for the rest of his life. For years, Israel's pleas for the world to stop this reward system for terrorism have fallen on deaf ears.  Meanwhile, terror attacks continue, and Israel, as in many cases, finds herself [almost] alone fighting for survival."

Imagine how disheartening it is to the average Israeli that the world continues to support  such a thing. Please read the prayer points from Maoz Ministries inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Israel Pochtar is one of those that has suffered mobs protesting their ministry as well as bureaucratic stringing along as they upgrade their congregational facility. Please keep this ministry in prayer as they are always a great joy to read all the things they are doing to reach their community with the Good News God has for them in Messiah Yeshua. You can read about their efforts to show "the true meaning behind Christmas" in their ministry to Russian Jewish immigrants in Ashdod and surrounding areas.  Also how they are discipling those that have to faith through their many forms of outreach. Please read the many good things and also prayer needs in Israel Pochtar's ministry letter this week.

Orna Grinman asks "What is tormenting you and causing you much pain?" in her blog post this week called, Is God Tabernacling within you?. Click to read.

David Lazarus writes about their congregation, Beit Immanuel, "We are all familiar with those times in life when troubles seem to pop up everywhere. The Psalmist describes these times as being like "surrounded by a swarm of bees" (Psalm 118:12). For us, this is one of those times as some of the kindest, most faithful and generous members of our congregation are facing difficulties. My first reaction was to complain to God, "Why do the nicest people need to suffer so much? It's not fair!" After visiting the families, praying and weeping with them, I realized that my attitude was not helping. That my questioning was a distraction from what needed to be done. When our loved ones are in trouble, that is the time to give as much love and support as we can, the kind of love that will help them overcome. I believe that this is an opportunity for you also to step up and come next to these families and share your love and blessings. Allow me to describe briefly a few of their stories and see if you too would like to give a helping hand." See more of David's appeal for several congregational members inside the Weekly Summary attachment

As I mentioned earlier, Howard and Randi Bass went down to Dimona to see that, "The situation there is heating up again, with the Chabad Rabbi stirring up protests and demonstrations against Albert and Esther, who are again opening up their nice little 'meeting place', situated just across from the offices of the city's rabbinic authority (the Rabbinate).  The Chabad rabbi brings together teenagers from the local yeshiva (Jewish study center) to annoy and to disturb their peace, and the peace of some of the other local shop owners in the commercial center of the city. . . . Please pray and thank God for Albert and Esther who are humbly demonstrating courage and a quiet spirit as they serve the Lord and love His people."  There are a lot more details shared inside the Weekly Summary attachment to help you intercede over this situation —and also a situation in Israel involving a refugee-immigration dilemma.

Howard also writes about the Fellowship of Christian Students in Israel (FCSI). One of the Nachalat Yeshua congregational leaders, Anthony Chapman is their chairman. Howard asks for prayer over this organization of "students -- Jewish, Arab, others -- in your prayers, and also consider financially supporting the organization."

Martin Sarvis in Jerusalem is looking forward to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the state of Israel which will be celebrated this year. Imagine how prophetically significant that is! Martin clues us in with his ministry letter this week, which you can read inside the Weekly Summary attachment. Martin writes, "The last paragraph of Israel’s Declaration of Independence, signed 70 years ago this year, begins this way, 'Placing our trust in the Rock of Israel, we affix our signatures to this proclamation…'  This concept of Israel trusting in God as her Rock is very ancient."
