Priority Prayer Focus Jan 31, 2018

A few days ago the Chief Rabbi of Israel issued a directive to the public to stop praying for rain as a "messenger of the community" (shaliach tzibur), but said they could continue to pray for rain as an individual. We believe the priesthood authority of Israel was transferred from the rabbinic to the apostolic in the times of the Acts of the Apostles. 

Israel has not yet received the necessary rain which the Israeli authorities hope will come in the month of February.  As a "messenger of the community" of faith in Yeshua, let us continue to pray for the abundance of rain to fall throughout the month of February - the physical rain to replenish water resources but also calling upon God for the promised spiritual rain upon the dry bones of Israel.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. The beasts of the field will honor Me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to My people, My chosen, the people I formed for Myself that they may proclaim My praise."  Isaiah 43:18-21

Over the past weekend a fairly rare event for Israel took place as about 170 women from all of the nation gathered for the Daughter of Zion women's conference. It was held in Magdala on the Sea of Galilee and exceeded the expectations of the organizers, Chaya Mizrachi of the Dugit Outreach and Adonai Roi congregation in Tel Aviv and Norma Sarvis in Jerusalem.  In their report Sarvis writes, "Many of the younger women, who comprised at least half of the group, shared that they had never before participated in a women’s meeting." The women are already asking when the next gathering can be and so there may be an even larger venue going forward.  Although the conference "touched on many difficult issues—personal pain and loss, physical and spiritual barrenness, the Holocaust and its impact on families, grief and suffering---in all these things, the Spirit was releasing healing and restoration."

Please pray for the women who attended this spiritually impactful gathering, they what was ministered to them will be protected, will blossom and grow.  Pray for God to fulfill all His desire going forward for the participants, the organizers and future gatherings.

In a newsletter that looks like it will be distributed every two months, Revive Israel shares more in depth in the activities going on behind the scenes at Revive.  This reflects the transition taking place with Revive as " Asher and Betty’s service with Tikkun International is increasing" and "as they gradually hand over responsibility for Revive Israel, Ahavat Yeshua, and Tiferet Yeshua congregations to Youval Yanay, Ariel Blumenthal/Jonathan Moore, and Gil Afriat respectively, as well as to their colleagues." Please pray for them all as transitions usually come with expected and unexpected challenges.

This first bimonthly Revive newsletter covers the breakthrough event in a Middle Eastern country when the Revive team was able to meet with local believers to establish relations and join hears. There are also reports on the Beit (House) of Yeshua, a partner ministry to addicts, and also a Christian Arab team focused on outreach to Muslims. With all the cold and rain that is being poured out on Israel —much to the rejoicing of all—the Beer Sheva Yeshua's Inheritance congregation is highly motivated to do some renovations on their semi-enclosed courtyard meeting place. It has been so cold lately that they have had to squeeze everyone inside to keep warm, so this has brought them into studying their options, priorities and costs on renovating.  Howard Bass, who leads the congregation has news from many of their young members, including a wedding, some ministry trips to other nations to evangelize and news from the their son Tal now considering whether to re-up his IDF commitment or to terminate in August.  Howard  asks prayers for Tal, as this is a "decision of destiny" for his son.

For their two young men traveling to evangelize Israelis in Hebrew, please pray for the whole group, the Netivah Youth Ministry and Matan Ohana who is leading the group of five recently-released soldiers on a “after army trip” to New Zealand. Most Israelis travel abroad after being released from their mandatory IDF (Israeli Defense Force) duty. Please pray for these five Israelis to be refreshed, both physically and spiritually, as they volunteer in New Zealand and go through a discipleship program.

It was touching to read what Katy Smith wrote in the weekly letter from Maoz ministries about the speech that US VP Mike Pence delivered at the Israeli Knesset: "As a believer, I have to say having a born-again Christian friend of Israel address our top leaders in our Capital city was very special.  As I listened to the live speech on the radio in my car on the way home, tears rolled down my cheeks and spontaneous prayer rose from within me, as I kept asking God to bless VP Pence, President Trump, Ambassador Haley, and all those around the world supporting Israel—not because we are so perfect, but because they understand the Word of God and His purpose for this land."

When Israeli pastor and evangelist Antony Simon was accidently killed in May 2017 after being struck by a car during a mission trip to northern Iraq, the Simon family was naturally stunned.  They write that it "was a year of trial and challenge for us." Their father's death became a great challenge to their church and ministry, yet they now say, "we were wonderfully blessed to witness God’s tender leading in each of our lives as He guided us every step of the way. We are so privileged to have a great staff which continues the good work God has given us to do, that work being to bring the Gospel to the unsaved of Israel whether through personal encounters and organized evangelism outreaches."  Read how they are carrying the work of the ministry forward inside the Weekly Summary attachment         

Ron Cantor looks at the prophet Isaiah (2:3) saying the Word of the Lord will go forth from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth and recognizes that he is living in that day: "I am pretty sure that Isaiah had no idea what television or YouTube would one day be, but that is exactly what I thought of as I was preparing my message for GOD TV’s Bless Israel special. I was humbled and excited to have the opportunity to minister from Israel to tens of thousands of people from Africa to Asia, from the US to the UK." Arni Klein of Emmaus Way in the Galilee has issued a clarification on their upcoming Galilee Worship Gathering for English speakers on March 1-10: It is not limited to UK English speakers, but all who are fluent enough in English not to need a translator! There are still some spaces open and registration (contact)information is inside the Weekly Summary attachment. You will also get great insight into the vision for this gathering. Arni notes that despite the great blessing of the Balfour Declaration, the UK has slid into a precarious situation regarding Israel and "and particularly London has become perhaps the leading Islamic stronghold in Europe." 

Tying that to Matthew 13:12 and Genesis 12:3, Klein writes, "Over the last few years we have witnessed the Lord speaking directly to various brethren from the UK about these matters.  We were greatly encouraged.  Sadly, however, we’ve watched as people lost the vision, forgot what they had heard, and failed to hold onto the revelation that what they had nationally as well as individually was first and foremost for the purpose of fulfilling God’s plans concerning Israel.  Having witnessed this also in Germany over the last fifteen years, we find a common hole in the respective buckets to be the approach to Israel being the pathway to their own blessing."  That is one 'pregnant' thought which we hope more will contemplate.  Read more inside the Weekly Summary attachment
