WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 3/28/2018 Passover

Priority Prayer Focus Passover 2018

When the plagues swept over Egypt, the children of Israel were spared because they kept the Passover feast, sprinkling the blood of the lamb over the doorposts of their dwellings. There is something else about how the plagues affected the Egyptians but did not come nigh the dwellings of the children of Israel. It is because they lived in "the land of Goshen" within Egypt. They did not live interspersed among the Egyptians because shepherds were detestable to the Egyptians. (Genesis 46:33-34) Their ways were not the ways of the Egyptians.

So the children of Israel lived separate from the Egyptians in the land of Goshen, which means "drawing near." This reminds me of the scripture that tells us that although we live in the world, we are not of the world. As believers, the children of God, brothers of His firstborn Son, Yeshua, we have the blood of the Lamb over the doorposts of our hearts, and we live in the land of Goshen, drawing near to God. We live in a world that detests  who and what we are, that we are set apart in a place of drawing near to God is loathsome to them —many even consider us an abomination.

Passover is a much bigger story than most will be telling during the traditional observances of both Jews and Christians. It is our story, all believers Jew and Gentile, who are drawing near to God with the sacrifice of the Lamb sprinkled over our hearts.

* Israel is on high alert for terrorism and other provocative acts during the Passover season. Terrorist incidents and arrests over the past several days raises the need for vigilance on this front. Please pray that no acts of violence will trigger battles in Israel over the coming weeks.

Guy Cohen who leads the Harvest of Asher (in the biblical geographical area that was given to the tribe of Asher upon entering the Promised Land, starts us off this week with a short Passover teaching taken primarily from the New Covenant book of Hebrews. Our story - or rather History - is all about God's plan to save us all, from Genesis to Revelation. You will enjoy this teaching found inside the Weekly Summary attachment

The Tel Aviv Tiferet Yeshua congregation which was founded by Ari and Shira Sorko-Ram is growing and they have a short update on how the Spirit-filled Jewish expression are blending a true Spirit filled service that is also maintaining Jewish tradition.  We don't often talk about this but there are many types of expressions in the Messianic congregations of Israel - from deeply traditional to not traditional at all! As the Sorko-Rams write about the services at Tiferet Yeshua, it is very rare to see tradition & the more charismatic blended together in a congregation - but they are committed to this blending, as are some others in the Land.  Read more inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Eli Ben-Moshe is a audio recording engineer who comes by his love of music honestly as he is the son of Marc Chopinsky of the pioneering group of Messianic worship, Israel's Hope.  His recording studio, Ashira (I Will Sing) is in northern Israel. Eli learned his chops from his dad and also from studying music and sound engineering at the renowned Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in Tel Aviv. Now Eli is working with the new Israel Worship Initiative of Shani and Kobi Ferguson who are seeking to inspire, assist and enable the Messianic worship artists in Israel.  Eli shares about a couple of recording projects that are very near completion - and makes an offer to those who would love to invest in the psalmists of Israel today.  See more inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Sderot may be the most tormented city in Israel - tormented by the thousands of willy-nilly rockets that have been launched from Gaza into the Israeli countryside with Sderot being the most hit by those bombs. The people who live in Sderot are not rich - if they were they would have moved away from the terror of running to bomb shelters with almost no time between warning and rockets hitting the ground. But for God's protection the losses in Sderot would be enormous. Even so, to be such a target takes its toll. That is why Michael and Dina Beener went to share the good news in Yeshua by establishing a congregation in that hard hit, traumatized town.  You should read about the approaches they are making in Sderot to reach people - despite the religious opposition against them.  Their letter is inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Asher Intrater of Revive Israel  has one article Jerusalem Comes Down and three videos in this issue. The videos are an Israeli Perspective of Passover (Passover in Israel may not be what we idealistically think!), Jerusalem Comes Down Three times in the book of Revelation it is stated that heavenly Jerusalem descends from heaven. Discover what the Bible tells us about what to expect.  And, How to Prepare a Message | Are you preparing your preaching and messages in the proper way? Perhaps there's a better way.

Also there is a really interesting interview by Cody Archer of Paul Wilbur where you might find out things about Paul that you never knew: VIDEO Revive Live. Plus an invitation to the Tikkun Family Conference in the USA and a link to Asher's anointed book, Alignment about a final transition age similar to the book of Acts. The apostolic and the apocalyptic are converging. Biblical pattern is becoming living prophecy. Alignment leads to revival; the manifest glory of God will rest on the city of Jerusalem and the people of God everywhere. The nations of the world will be lined up on one side or the other.

Ron Cantor of Messiah's Mandate (Tiferet Yeshua, GOD TV, Revive Live & spiritual investments of time too numerous to mention) writes about an urgent need in the shortfall of their monthly support pledge to the Tel Aviv Tiferet Yeshua congregation. Not long ago Ron was acting as the senior pastor of the congregation, but as God advanced the places of impact in Ron's ministry he transferred into more of a elder-type  position as a young sabra Israeli stepped into the pastor's role. Ron is still intricately connected to the congregation - hence the $10,000 monthly support that he raises each month for the operation of the congregation where many awesome things are taking place. You can read about it in Ron's prayer letters inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Another fellow who is running the race hard is Israel Pochtar of the Ashdod congregation Beit Hallel which has a family of congregations networked through it and the Voice of Judah Israel Ministries. We are amazed at how many events, projects and outreaches Pochtar writes to us about every week and we invite you to learn more about his labors inside the Weekly Summary attachment. This week Israel writes of their traditional Passover Seder in the desert and the outreach they are doing among about 45 new immigrant families via a Passover Humanitarian Relief Project.  There is an opportunity for you to help and to pray for these works.

Hasdey Yeshua (Mercy of Yeshua) is in a town that needs a lot of mercy! Mainly because of the ultra-Orthodox sect that heavily populates the city and has made itself pretty much despised by the Arad citizens who are not part of their intensely self-righteous group. Okay, that being said, and the Hasdey Yeshua congregants have said this many times: Don't hate them, pray for them! They are lost, deceived and in desperate need of the Mercy of Yeshua.

Many Christians (and Messianic Jews) have idealized the most visibly-Jewish of religious Judaism like the Hasedei Gur, an ultra-Orthodox sect that originated in Poland.  In Israel there is no idealized view of the ultra-Orthodox who lead the charge in religious opposition of all Jews who believe in Yeshua, as well as the secular Israelis they also detest.  Does this mean we advocate hatred for them? No it does not. We advocate prayer for them but we also do not advocate keeping a blind eye to the meanness that a good deal of them operate in.

We remind our subscribers that the apostle Paul was out of the same mold of self-righteousness that felt an intense duty to persecute the believers in the first century - until Yeshua's mercy struck Shaul physically blind so He could then remove the spiritual blindness that plagued Shaul. When the spiritual blindness was removed, the apostle Paul realized how mean and out of God's will he really was.  We expect nothing less for the religious opposition in Israel - but it requires prayers that are made with open eyes, not those made by turning a blind eye.  Read more from the Arad Hebrew congregation inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Orna Grinman of Ot Oo’Mofet (A Sign & An Example) has a new blog post: A Great Opportunity Missed God had set plenty of special opportunities for us in the Biblical calendar to meet with Him. They are called Mo’ed or Mo’adim in Hebrew, meaning a specific Date. Each one with its unique rituals and significance. Had we kept them according to His original design, they would have pointed towards the Messiah, and each one would … Read more online by clicking the linked title.

Such an incredible testimony this week from Richard and Carolyn Hyde about a group of Muslims were on a beach in Haifa showing some ultra-Orthodox Jews the Isaiah 53 video and telling them about Yeshua! The Hydes write, "This is not a joke!" Read more inside the Weekly Summary attachment. Carolyn also writes, "There is a stirring in recent days among Israeli followers of Yeshua here in the Land.  Local believers are repenting of cursing our Messiah and ourselves. " She is referring to Matthew 27:25, "His blood shall be on us and on our children." Here are just a few of the items on KehilaNews.com this week:

New book by Messianic Israelis takes on Judaism’s Oral Law | Kehila News Staff | According to rabbinic Judaism, the Oral Law contains all of the directives that God is believed to have shared with Moses on Mount Sinai, none of which are recorded in the Torah. In their book, Eitan Bar and Golan Brosh set out to critique traditional rabbinic Judaism which has held the religion “hostage” by its reliance on Oral Law.

Symbolic and Traditional Passover Recipes | Donna Diorio | We want to share some recipes of the wonderful foods, both symbolic and traditional, of the Passover seder that are central to telling the story of the exodus from Egypt described in Exodus 12.

A call to prayer for President Trump | Shira Sorko-Ram | Shira writes, "Lord, please have mercy on this president, who needs You so desperately. SPECIAL UPDATE REQUEST from EDDIE SANTORO 3/27: At this moment I am sending out a very important and needed request for help from all of you. Please allow me to share my recent story (read the full story inside the Weekly Summary attachment)

Last night I was making a dinner for Jackie.... I experienced an unusual event of brain discomfort and loss of memory. After a few minutes, it passed. We called the doctor and he asked that we come to the emergency room and have a CAT scan done as soon as possible, which I did this morning. After a long day, we finished the test. The doctor read the scan and wrote in a report that he thought he saw a new recurrence but it was not clear enough to say definitively and needed to see results of an MRI. I have my regular check up scheduled on April 8th though we will endeavor to get an appointment sooner.  We are not too optimistic as the nation is in the midst of Passover preparation for the upcoming holiday season. So as of now, we have nine days to pray that the MRI will show a perfect and healed brain. And it is for this that I am sharing this story. God has healed me. He has destroyed the cancer within my brain and for over two years I have been free of any cancer.

UPDATE 3/28/18  Another incredible answer to a prayer need has come to us. ...It is almost impossible to get an MRI very quickly, especially so this time of year and we already had an appointment for April 8 that we had made several months ago. And then this morning, God heard our request and the MRI Clinic called me and told me they had an opening for an MRI tomorrow at 10 AM. So please join us in praying that tomorrow's test WILL BE CLEAN!!! There will be no new cancer in my brain. ...
