WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 4/4/2018

Priority Prayer Focus Apr 4, 2018

As we are about to mail this prayer summary Israeli headlines are revealing that Islamic Jihad was about to assault Israeli naval vessels - a plot to use a missile attack against an Israeli vessel in order to board for kill and capture sailors. The Shin Bet and IDF foiled the attack. I hear many say lightly not to worry about Israel because God is in control. It is true God is in ultimate control but He works with our prayers to protect Israel in the details. We cannot take a laissez faire attitude about the warfare - not against ourselves, the Israeli ministries or Israel. Yes, God has a Master Plan for Israel, but that does not mean there are no casualties that the enemy inflicts that God wills. We must overcome the disconnect that we seem to have between the natural warfare and the spiritual warfare.

Please continue to pray over all the Israeli ministry leaders and their congregants who are the front line of intercessory prayer for the nation of Israel prevailing in all the battles and schemes of the enemies.  There are no prayers more powerful before God than those of family members praying in love - and we can pray in agreement with them for all their countrymen.

From Howard Bass and the Yeshua's Inheritance congregation in Beer Sheva, Howard focuses our attention on the Biblical Feast of First Fruits, which this year has fallen on the same day as the Christian World observed the Resurrection of Jesus - Sunday.  I love what Howard had to say about Easter eggs: "I don't know where, when, and why eggs became a tradition of many Christians, but it is interesting that children hunt for eggs like Jewish children hunt for the afikoman on Passover night.  And Jewish seder plates have an egg on it.  Let us worship God in Spirit and truth, keeping what is good, and being careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater."

Their congregational Passover celebrations also included a baptism with a joyous testimony and also the delivery of food bags to children of the Holocaust survivors in Beer Sheva.  Howard includes a good report for one of his ministry associates, Eduardo, suffering from a congenital back condition. He is getting more mobile, but keep praying.  Howard also passes along his teaching on 'no resolution buy God's solution' for the conflicts plaguing Israel. Read it  The Kingdom of God: Significance and expectation of the physical return of the Lord and he recommends an article by Caroline Glick who he says is an excellent analyst but whose hope is in the Israeli Jewish people ourselves, and who thinks that Messianic Jews are not Jews) which helps put the Gaza "March For Return" in perspective.

Martin Sarvis sent a focus on the Feast of Unleavened Bread also looking at what is going on in Israel as people go without yeast-breads for the week and everyone gets their fill of matza.  Martin writes, "
Throughout the year, Israel is free to eat normal bread.  However, in order to make it rise, that requires that a separate “life” be added to the dough.   But that life-agent will not last for long on its own.  Once yeast has become old, we say that it is “dead.”   The “life” placed into normal bread is a life which must eventually die. For one “complete” week out of the year, Israel was to eat bread which did not have this “outside  life” added to it.  There is a picture here: “Man  (Hebrew: “the Adam”) does not live by bread alone, but by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD” (Deut. 8.3).  From the Father would come forth “Living Bread”…to provide us with heavenly life for every day of our week!  This “Living Bread” does not have any temporary, foreign, dying life  in it!

In his prayer points, Sarvis also speaks to the Hamas-led border violence posing as a "peaceful protest" for the lapdog media always ready to comply with Palestinian spin on their aggressions against Israel.  sarvis writes, "Israel has known for days of the careful planning for this demonstration, and its purpose.  Unsurprisingly, the Israeli protection of its borders immediately resulted in an emergency meeting being called in the UN regarding the Israeli “massacre”—with the Secretary General calling for an independent investigation into the loss of life. ... Please pray for the God who has promised “Violence [Hebrew: hamas] will not be heard again in your land, nor devastation or destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls salvation, and your gates praise” (Isaiah 60:18) to quiet the violence on Israel’s border with Gaza (and her northern border with Hezbollah).  Pray for mercy over the millions in bondage to a violent and Godless regime in Gaza…that the “Strong Man” there will fall, the curse of violence will be broken, and they will be shown the Way to life, hope and peace with Israel (Zechariah 9:5-7).  Pray for vigilance, wisdom, integrity, and where possible, compassion in the soldiers of Israel charged with guarding their borders."

Claude and Michelle Ezagouri lead the Morning Star Fellowship in Tiberias. They are praising God for a second worship team now functioning in the fellowship, and are also grateful for the people who have been healed in this last month. Also some who left the fellowship have returned after a long absence.  In their prayer requests they speak about the inadequate infrastructure in the Galilee region which means lack of jobs to support the younger generation who end up leaving the region to pursue work elsewhere. This is a situation that they are asking prayer over because the life blood of any congregation is that all the generations are represented - this produces more life for the whole. They also have some exciting situations developing that could attract newcomers to their midst - all we are going to share about that publicly.

Of course the Ezgouris share the same concerns about the security threats Israel is facing. Do not take this too lightly saying, God is in control. Yes, God is in control, but there is spiritual warfare that impacts the natural warfare. Please pray over all the current issues from the Gaza border to the 70th Anniversary events; from the threats to the north and to police investigations of Netanyahu.  Also "May the Lord give our soldiers wisdom and alertness, in these dangerous times."

It is not wonder that the 70th Anniversary of the modern state of Israel  being a security concern, because as Ron Cantor of Messiah's Mandate points out "There could be a huge spiritual significance to this re-birthday". Read his article about it, Modern Israel is Turning 70. Also, Yeshua Rose from the Dead on a Jewish Holiday and No One is Talking About It! Ron talks about the biblical First Fruits which is now in progress.

From Revive Israel a video featuring Asher Intrater on how changing the way you talk will change the reality around you in Our Words Change Our World. Eli Ben-Moshe of the Ashira Project (Ashira means I Will Sing) send a big thank you out to all those who responded to his call for donations last weeks for the mastering of recordings by Judah & Jennifer Morrison's new EP and Carolyn Hyde's new single:  "We are ecstatic to report that the funds were raised!"  Now the next projects are two new singles and a 7 song LP from two NEW artists - Alex Ribak, Tanya Kadin, and one 'Ashira' "veteren" - Eli Haitov! If you are loving our work and would like to help us finish these projects (and even more that are waiting to start pre production) please consider becoming a partner with us. Even a small, recurring donation can make a big difference!

Stefan and Keren Silver, who are with the Kerem-el (God's Vineyard) congregation in northern Israel are really thrilled about their new daughter, Selah, who has two big sisters.  But already Keren is preparing for getting back into the recording studio to get her final vocals recorded for the new worship CD. Stefan is also preparing. We enjoyed listening to this interview of his testimony on Revelation TV Middle East Report with Simon Barrett of God's amazing salvation and supernatural protection of himself and his soldiers during the 2nd Lebanon war in 2006 while he was serving as an officer in the Combat Engineering Corps."

She went through a difficult setback after the transplant, but she is on the road to recovery. Her Dr. Came in today (3/29) and was very encouraged with her lung xray and shows healing progress. Thank you for every prayer.

Our battles are seemingly never over, but we can do all things through Messiah who strengthens us. As Francis Frangipane says, I would rather die in faith than live in doubt.

Praying the Headlines

The Passover Plot – Arsonists and Firefighters in Gaza | Avner Boskey of David's Tent | There is a popular Arabic proverb, “First he hits me. Then he starts to cry. Finally he runs ahead of me to the judge and sues me” (Darabani wa baka, wa sabaqani wa eshtaka). Middle East realities have once again proved how relevant this saying is in helping to understand recent and soon-coming events in the Gaza Strip.

My Need

On Passover I was headed out of our housing division for services when only a block from my house when my car began knocking. I had to turn around and come home. Later in the day my mechanic neighbor told me that my funky old 1998 Nissan had finally given up completely. There would be no more stop-gap repairs to keep it rolling.  I had taken over the second-hand car payments from my dad in 2006 when he wanted to go into the nursing home. He died just a year later at 79 of an undiagnosed cancer in his brain, but he knew he was not well.

Anyway, the car was well past its prime, quite embarrassing to me with its peeling paint, dents and dings, ratty interior, etc., but I have not wanted to add any car payments to our monthly bills. Even more so that is the case as Tony is about to have his neck surgery at the beginning of May.  I want us to not spend any funds, even for a cheap replacement car for me, until we have cleared his surgery and recovery period.  We need to conserve our funds until he has cleared all that and is able to resume his business.  Still, I need to put it out there that I have this need which I have already set aside some cash for when the time comes to scout out a replacement vehicle.  If you can contribute towards my need, it would be greatly appreciated.
