The Three Anointings | Arrows from Zion 11/27/2019

In the January 8, 2019 issue of Arrows from Zion I shared my sense of what the Spirit was saying prophetically for the New Year in an article called, The Cave of Adullam & the Three Anointings of David. Now as we come close to the end of the year I have been reminded of the article through several discussions I've seen on Facebook in the past few weeks. So I thought I should share these again. In January I had edited the one article into two, adding a new segment just today to The Three Anointings of David

The Three Anointings of David

The first time he was anointed David was just a teenager of about 15 years old. That same year he killed Goliath and he began to serve King Saul for 7 years. The people recognized David's anointing so much so that it stirred great jealousy in Saul who became increasingly dangerous toward David. But it was God's will that David be brought into the royal court of Saul, whom he would one day replace.

#1 David was there to fight the enemies of Israel so all of God's people could see that Saul had killed his thousands, but David his ten thousands.

#2 David was to also see firsthand what the spiritual failures of Saul were, those spiritual failures becoming spiritual character building lessons for David.

#3 All Israel had to see David over a long term to spiritually discern his worthiness, and that he carried God's anointing. They saw this in the contrast with Saul, whom they chose to follow based on his natural appearance. David had to be chosen by Israel as king based on seeing God's anointing on him. They would never have seen that had he not gone into the service of King Saul. Sometimes working for the lesser prepares you — by the will of God — for the greater.

Finally at only 22, David had to get out of Saul's reach. But God did not intend for David to stop fighting Israel's enemies so he was continually on the move for 8 years of both hiding from Saul and battling the enemies of Israel. Throughout all those years — in Saul's court and on the run from Saul — God was preparing David to be the kind of king that God wanted for Israel.

Now Saul wanted to harm David, but David did not want to harm Saul. David recognized that even though Saul was a true enemy, He was also God's anointed. Sound familiar? It sounds just like how Israeli Messianic Jews conduct themselves today even in the face of truly threatening religious jealousy and opposition.

David was about 30 years old when Saul died on the battlefield. David's anointing had been recognized by more and more Jews and at Saul's death the tribe of Judah anointed him as their king in Hebron. The tribes of Israel and Judah were divided for several more years just as today the Messianic Israelis are still mostly divided from unsaved Israel. After a few years of internal conflicts, however, the elders of Israel also saw that David was anointed to be king of "all Israel."

Do you see what I see? In the first anointing young David is like the pioneer generation of Messianic ministry leaders who came to Israel to serve Yeshua in the building up of the Living Stones of Israel. They excelled, increased and grew in much "character building" spiritual maturity facing all the challenges of Israel, especially that of the jealousy of the spiritual establishment.

In 1948 there were only 23 believers in all of Israel. After 1967 with the birth of the Messianic movement in the USA more Messianic believers began to immigrate to Israel. They were called of God to the spiritual wilderness of Israel, because that is where God intended to bless them with ministry fruitfulness.

Today there are 30,000 Israeli Jewish Believers according to a "conservative estimate." Some believe the actual number is double that amount. Despite all the challenges, opposition, and often the spiritual isolation, these Israeli Messianics are like David when he was in the period still fighting Israel's enemies and hiding from Saul.

At the same time while not all the church has recognized Messianic Israel as a significant thing God is doing, increasing numbers of international believers do. There is a seeming parallel of recognition of the anointing that is taking place within the Israeli population and within the international church.

Israel is not to be just a physical restoration of the state, but a
spiritual restoration of Israel to God through His Messiah Yeshua. This is like the second anointing of David, where he began to walk in a limited measure of the kingship God intended for him with followers being added to him.  The Israeli believers are like an extension of Yeshua in the Davidic line by faith.

Jewish believers will continue to increase in followers of the One who will be crowned King of Kings. This Yeshua whose throne is Jerusalem, who is the Lion of the tribe of Judah and the ultimate fulfillment of the covenant God made with David,
"In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely, and this is the name by which she will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness. For this is what the LORD says: David will never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel" Jeremiah 33:16-17

Soon the time will arrive when even the elders of Israel will see the anointing of the Davidic King that rests upon His Israeli Messianic Jewish people who are called by His Name, walking in His anointing. At that time "all Israel" shall be saved and they will declare Yeshua as the KING of Israel.

This final anointing by Israel will mean Yeshua will return to capture Jerusalem as David did: Nevermore will it be tread down and trampled by the Jebusites*. It is coming and I want to be a part of this blessing that reverberate throughout the world. —
Donna Diorio

* The name "Jebusites" means "down-treading in the sense of subjugation"

Maoz Ministries in Israel highlights their "I Stand with Israel" benevolence fund set up to financially help other ministries and believers across Israel. [Pro-Tip: Always look for ministries who give out of what they receive by helping other Israeli ministries with financial blessing. The need is great and the givers are few, to borrow a thought from a verse about the laborers in the harvest. Laborers are needed, but so are givers to give the laborers something to work with.]

The Maoz prayer letter also covers prayer points for their April 2021 "Israeli Israel" tour, which is a tour through Israel from an Israeli perspective. Worship with local worship leaders, it's a tour designed to connect ancient & modern Israel in one beautiful story line. email for info. They also include prayer points over Gaza, the IDF, Judea & Samaria, Iran, the Hebrew scriptures and Israeli politics (the deadlock that has stopped being able to form a govt and appoint a Prime Minister). They ask "Lord, what are You saying to us in this unbelievable situation that Israel finds itself in?"

Maoz is not the only Israeli Messianic ministry asking that question this week. From the perspective overseas, what believers have witnessed over the 3 years of baseless accusations against Trump by the political Left, it looks startling similar to us that is the same thing going on against PM Netanyahu. What is God saying? I think it is: Don't believe everything you hear, discern, dig deep for facts, recognize it's not just politics but it is a critical spiritual battle. That's exactly what Jerusalem looks like from the USA.

From the Voice of Judah ministries of Israel Pochtar, an appeal for financial support to respond to the horrible rocket fire from Gaza that made whole cities in Israel come to a full stop for over a week. When 300+ rockets are incoming, businesses cannot function and incomes stop while Israelis are running to bomb shelters. While there were no deaths reported, there was destruction and terrorizing of many people. This is why pastor Israel wants to respond to the even greater number of requests for help than they usually receive. You can help with a donation to bring light, life and hope to a land under fire.

Sally Shiff, an intercessor and English-speaking liaison for the HaMaayan congregation in Kfar Saba, has just returned from the US where she had many God-directed encounters and a sense of great mission even while praying in the Jewish Heritage Museum with an exhibition on Auschwitz, Twin Towers Memorial, and the United Nations. She writes, "Monday, I went with my host to the United Nations. I am part of a Israeli national intercessor team, and ironically, our “monthly prayer call” happened when I was in the UN. During this call, the news was announced that the United States recognized as legitimate land of Israel Judea and Samaria.  A move that would soon send shock waves in the very building I was in.  How awesome of God to have me there at that moment in time....in the security council...I stood on the same podium where Presidents, Kings and other dignitaries speak to the world.  I was there praying and declaring the Lordship of Yeshua (Isaiah 9)."  One prayer request Sally has is for her need to buy a newer car. With costs 3 times higher than the US costs, pray for her to have the funds to do so quickly as the 2008 car is beginning to need repairs too often.

Chaim Malespin, the director of the Aliyah Return Center, is like many of the younger generation of ministry leaders who communicate their ministry news and needs via short video clips rather than sending out written reports and appeals. Here are some of those short clips: the New Olim Home is Almost Open (olim = immigrants) | All Nations Prayer Valley Coming Soon | Chaim is in Judea and Samaria "with shouts of joy" | Check out our membership opportunity VIDEO

Asher Intrater's Revive Israel has also learned the key of sending out short videos and even shorter written articles, with most of the Revive Israel articles being a 3-minute read. Here is Joni Koski's Full Circle: Time and Geography of God’s Salvation Plan | VIDEO Misty Edwards' Journey with Cody Archer |and Asher's VIDEO What Is Faith, Part 6.

In a separate email, Revive Israel highlights some of the seeds their Revive Teams are planting, like the Project Paul Int'l teams development to serve and equip int'l ministry teams and connect them with a vision for Israel's salvation. Also their monthly evangelism teams on the streets of Israel with the Good News of Yeshua. And Project Nesher (Eagle Project) which is a program for post-IDF young adults to build bridges between young believers from different countries, helping youth to learn the Jewish roots of faith, and to walk as disciples together with Yeshua the Messiah. One third of all general fund donations to Revive Israel is seeded back into to Messianic people and projects in Israel, who are themselves seeking to build the Kingdom of God, or who have particular urgent needs.

Martin Sarvis sent a great teaching on the name of Yeshua which is so important (but was too long for me to share in the weekly summary, but I did share a super excerpt about how even seculars in Israel have begun to understand that the His name is not "Yeshu" which is a curse, but Yeshua, whose name means, The LORD is Salvation, “for He will save His people from their sin.”

Martin also ends with a word of caution that the name of Yeshua is relevant to the JEWISH people, "Today it is not uncommon to see notices on the Internet and Facebook (some bearing the hallmarks of cults), legalistically exhorting everyone that God is displeased if His Son’s name isn’t pronounced a certain way.  Ironically, most of these are themselves pronouncing it incorrectly.  Anyone who knows Hebrew has only to look at the name mentioned in Nehemiah 8:17 and many other places in the post-Exilic books, to find that it is indeed pronounced Yeshua…not Yah’shua, not Y’shua or anything else. His name is Yeshua.  Yet God is not today trying to force this name on anyone in the nations—but He is restoring it to the People to whom it was first given—in their own language Hebrew—the Name which is above every name, and which is God’s promise of His Salvation!" Amen, and amen!

Ron Cantor of Messiah's Mandate (also CEO of Tikkun Int'l) sends Jewish/Gentile Relationships in the New covenant Part 1 of 3 blog articles | VIDEOS All 5 Messages from the Israel, the Church and the Coming Revival Tikkun Conference (Please consider giving a gift to Tikkun today. Eric Benson heads the House of Victory (Beit Nitzachon), a faith-based rehab for men in Haifa connected to the Carmel Congregation.  In fact, Eric taught there in October in a message from Romans called The Exchange Rate” (on YouTube). In his monthly ministry letter Eric relates some of events the men in their programs participated in worship and ministry services with the Carmel congregation, also sharing about many groups from the nations who have come to encourage this work of restoring many 'lost sheep' of Israel. Eric writes in his prayer requests, "Continue to pray for more laborers in our harvest field. This type of ministry requires intense labor. We are also trusting the Lord to raise up more workers. If you feel led to help the work of the House of Victory, please send accordingly. Thank you for standing together with us!"

Howard Bass in the Beer Sheva Yeshua's Inheritance (Nachalat Yeshua) congregation writes about how they are discipling their young people "to learn to discern good from evil, and to choose the good." Important work that every congregation should be doing, as we see so many examples in the world where young people cannot tell their right hand from their left. It is within the purview of the faith to instruct our young in godliness, as Hebrews 12:14 relates, "Pursue peace with all men, as well as holiness (sanctification of heart and life), without which no one will see the Lord."

Howard and Randi Bass continue in the USA as Randi sees to matters of her father's passing, and they also enjoy getting to know their soon to be son-in-law and visit with some of Howard's family also. His report of his offspring, who are all following the Lord in their own lives, is always nice to hear. Lastly, Howard has his own view of what the Lord may be saying in the midst of the controversies swirling around the persons of the Israeli PM and the U.S. President, The Judgment Seat of Messiah

Evan Levine who heads the HaTikva Project highlights their thankfulness for the ability they have had to serve in their Dental clinics which "have seen over 2,750 patients and shared the love of Yeshua with each of them. With our average wait time per patient nearing 6 months, we have begun an expansion project to open a new, larger dental clinic in Jerusalem.  Watch this VIDEO report."

Hasdey Yeshua, the Hebrew congregation in Arad, Israel, gives a report of their Bedouin ministry workers who had a Divine appointment meeting a woman with 7 children living in abject poverty (a term they are not using loosely based on the photos I saw). Her husband decided he wanted another wife, so put her and her children into "a dilapidated shack on his parents’ property" refusing to support them adequately. When the workers  saw it they were moved with compassion and began to help with the basics of what they needed to live. The woman began to come to services, sensing God's presence - but they say Islam still had a hold on here. When a trauma arose in her family, they told her to pray and ask Yeshua for help and "the issue was miraculously resolved, and woman prayed to receive Yeshua!" Please pray for this lady, and that the spirit of Islam will be completely broken off of her life and her children's lives.

They also write about the Hidden Jews in that woman's town who are ethnically Jewish but long, long ago migrated from Hebron and live outwardly as Bedouin and Muslims. "Some, in addition to Islam, actually practice an ancient form of Judaism, which seems completely disconnected from modern Rabbinic Judaism. These are truly hidden Jews, but God knows who they are. Please pray for them."

Hasdey Yeshua has many more reports from their work among the Bedouin, also the discipling classes they have begun in the congregation and the continued search for a suitable, affordable building they can buy or rent for the congregation. They have been a 'homeless' congregation for many years.

Avi and Chaya Mizrachi share some of the things they are most thankful for in their Adonai Roi congregation and Dugit outreach in Tel Aviv. One is the new building they were able to move into, remodel and restore — also for being able to buy their own facility for the HaOgen coffee house which is up and running. "We are so thankful that God has made it possible for us to purchase this building so we will no longer be bullied or kicked out (again!) from a rented facility."

They also thank God "for the Prayer Tower overlooking our city that God has provided, so that prayer can go up day and night for the salvation and blessing of Israel. We’re grateful that so many other believers from Tel Aviv and across Israel have been able to join with us in interceding for Israel." And finally, "we are thankful that we’ve been able to distribute about 2000 boxes of groceries to needy families in our area. We rejoice that our heavenly Father allows us to care for His beloved children in this most basic and practical way....I hope you understand how thankful we are for your friendship. Our calling is to share the Good News of Messiah with the Jewish people and to disciple them to become strong believers, rooted and grounded in the Word of God — and it is your encouragement and generous financial support that makes this missionary outreach to the Jewish people possible."

I have reported this many times over the past 2 or 3 years, but giving to Israeli ministries is down...for whatever reason. I simply DO NOT BELIEVE this is the will of God. Please consider Israeli ministries at the top of your giving priorities list for year-end giving and giving in 2020.
