WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 9/21/2016

Priority Prayer Focus Sep 21, 2016

Ben Juster, Tikkun:  "We are excited as we now gearing up for the Jewish Fall Holidays and Feasts. It is a time of great contrasts ... celebration and introspection, fasting and feasting, the blast of a shofar and the quiet intercession of the community. ...You may also be experiencing stark contrasts in your life right now. While you know the joy of God's abundant love and care for you, you may also be experiencing circumstances that contribute to dryness or sorrow in your soul.  My prayer is that in the coming month, you will experience the refreshing rains of God's Spirit in your life. I ask that God would walk with you through this season of repentance and reflection and into the extravagant celebration of His goodness!

"May Adonai answer you in the day of trouble! May the Name of the God of Jacob set you up securely on high. May He send you help from the Sanctuary and support you from Zion. May He remember all your meal offerings and accept the fat of your burnt offering. May He grant you your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans. We will shout for joy in your victory and lift up our banners in the Name of our God! May Adonai fulfill all your petitions." - Psalm 20:2-6

Eddie Santoro of the Ahavat Yeshua congregation writes this week about the ordination of two of their young, faithful congregational members this past week. Jonathan Moore has become their first "young" elder, and Jeremiah Smilovici was also set in as a deacon. Both of their wives also have served faithfully in the congregation, in keeping with the order set in the New Covenant scriptures.

Having watched this congregation from before its beginning, when the Revive Ministry was focused on a Discipleship school dedicated to raising up a new generation of Israeli Messianic spiritual leaders,  it is a blessing to see how those young people have blossomed into their roles as heads of their families as well as active leadership in the ministry and congregational life.  This is a tribute to those spiritual fathers who set their sights on preparing a generation to serve the Lord. Over the past week I have seen excited Facebook posts from several of these young families who are finally moving into houses built in the Messianic community around Yad Hashmona.  What is being built here is special and for the reason that an older generation made it the work of their lives. God is blessing their labor of love.

Eddie Santoro sent several points they are requesting prayer over, as well a personal health update too (undergoing the follow up testing to confirm cancer has not returned), read in full inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

We have another wonderful report from Israel Pochtar of the Beit Hallel Congregation and Voice of Judah Ministries regarding their outreaches to new immigrants and an opportunity for you to help them as they help Jewish people return to their ancient homeland of Israel. You can get details inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary but let me tell you that it takes surprisingly little money to make a real impact in the lives of these people pouring into the Land from the north.

After on recent gospel outreach of 270 non-believers, they recently held a baptism for 29 ready to go the next step in their spiritual journey.  Pochtar shares a great testimony of one young Israeli they recently baptized who said as he served his army duty in the guard tower overlooking the baptism site of Jordan river, he would mock those being water baptized thinking it an absurd ritual.  He did not realize the immersion was actually derived from Judaism, a Mikveh.  Now he has received baptism and risen to new life in Messiah, no longer a mocker but a believer.  Read more from the ministry plus their prayer requests inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary.

Dov Bikas is the pastor of a Russian-speaking congregation in Beer Sheva and an evangelism and outreach ministry to drug addicts/sex abuse victims in south Tel Aviv. Dov writes that five new street addicts have come to them recently so they are now taking care of 10 people seeking to change their lives. There are lots of practical things to pray about for a ministry like this, beyond the obvious, that God will soften hearts and mend lives, like the "second stage rehab" they would like to be able to open, or for grace from the nearby businesses, who aren't always exactly crazy about the people coming for a time of refuge at the Aviv Center.  But the testimonies are well worth it! Please read some of them inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary, along with prayer requests for the ministry.

Also, Dov writes, "For a long time I have been thinking to share with you a link to the book written by Judy Galblum Pex about the ministry of “The Shelter” hostel in Eilat. This is the place where I became a believer and grew up as a minister. This book, I would say, describes a very blessed part of Israeli history :) It is called “Come. Stay. Celebrate!”   ...Interestingly, another of the Negev congregational leaders mentioned The Shelter a Christian hostel and evangelism center, Howard Bass was dropping off a Congolese guest who wanted to volunteer there. Bass wrote that The Shelter is "very amazingly run by John and Judy Pex."

This may come as a surprise - the shifts of God usually do surprise us - but Asher Intrater is teaching about A New Dimension of Prophecy that we are moving into, a "double" prophetic anointing that combines the two Biblical expressions of prophecy, that of the prophetic anointing we see in the Church primarily to speak to the building up of the Body of Christ, and that prophetic anointing of the ancient Hebrew prophets to speak to nations about the second coming of the Messiah.  This double prophetic anointing, Asher says, is to enable us to speak of God's destiny for Israel, the Church and the Nations in these end times..."  | ARTICLE or VIDEO | Part 1 of 2

Also from Revive Israel: 40 Day Fast Updates | If you are taking part in the 40 day fast that began September 3rd, we encourage you to be checking in for prayer focuses and updates at this BLOG. And a special opportunity for the Oct 1 Feast of Trumpets even with both Hebrew and Arab brothers  participating.  This combines both the biblical meaning of the blowing of the shofar, as well as the significance of collaboration between Arab Christians and Messianic Jews in Israel in the end times. Please see inside how you can help to cover the expenses of necessary headphones for translation in the event - $7000 is needed and donations are welcomed.  See details inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Pastor Najeeb and Elisabeth Atteih of the Immanuel Church, Bookshop and Refugee Ministries has a full prayer ministry letter over their activities the past couple of months.  Elizabeth writes about a Sheikh preacher  who came in interested to receive a free Bible the shop had set out.  She was able to talk him including sharing the gospel with him.  She also wrote about their last trip to Germany to minister among many Syrian refugees, and also Najeeb's ministry in Jordan and Turkey to the refugees. For the sake of security instead of disclosing information in Arrows which is published online, I invite you to read them inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary which is distributed only to my mailing list.

However there are a few things we can report here: " We never imagined that we would be working with Muslims, not because we do not want to or have a heart to but because we did not know how to start. The Lord has brought the ministry to us though. We now have many opportunities to serve Muslims and Muslim background believers in Turkey. The ministry is hard, harder than the ministry in Jordan, but it is very fruitful. The Lord is doing miracles and doing a great work among Muslims. Many people are searching for God and are hungry for the love and truth of Jesus.

"The Kurdish people in Turkey are the ones that are the most open to the Gospel because they are the most persecuted. The Iraqi people, the fanatic Syrians, and many Turkish people hate and persecute them. The Kurdish people that live in Turkey are refugees and really want and need to be loved and accepted. The Good News of the Gospel and the love of Jesus is so attractive to the Kurdish people. Najeeb thinks that the Kurdish believers in Turkey will be used by God to bring healing to the Turkish people. Why? They speak Turkish, they know the culture, and they have a desire to evangelize. Once they have experienced the love and salvation through Jesus, they cannot help but share that with others. "  Please pray for the work that God is orchestrating among Muslim nations - it is more key to God's plan than most of us realize.

Howard Bass of the Nachalat Yeshua (Yeshua's Inheritance) congregation gives and encouraging workd about the end times opposition to Yeshua and His kingdom - "the gates of hell shall not prevail". Hallelujah. Howard points out the opposition and evil is not only at work in the world, but also has come into both Israel and the Church.  "May He increase our faith to overcome all that would seek to derail us from pressing on in the truth of who Jesus is!"

Howard also gives a report on the ladies medical mission outreach to Hosanna, Ethiopia undertaken by  his wife Randi and some of the other ladies from the congregation.  One of the young congregants, he writes, was "visibly moved both in Ethiopia and in her sharing time over the unsolvable poverty of so many of the people. Even though thousands were helped during this mission trip, many of those who came to be treated could not be, simply because of the numbers, and the lack of resources. But she also was impacted by the faith of these dear poor people, and that their prayers were not primarily about basic personal requests, but instead they were mostly praises to God for who He is! This itself can be life-changing for many of us who seek first our personal comfort and safety, not any different, really, from unbelievers.  Thanks to all of you who upheld this outreach. The Lord heard!"  For other congregational news, please see inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

David Davis, who is recovering from cancer treatments and still covets your prayers for complete healing and restoration, writes the Carmel Assembly prayer letter this month. David reports on their 7-day Celebration for the Nations worship event with hundreds of Koreans and others from the nations, along with local Israeli worshippers, exalting and proclaiming the Name of Yeshua in various languages in August.  And an Erev Shabbat dinner at Beit Yedidia to strengthen the bonds of fellowship within our Kehilat HaCarmel family.  Read the details inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

David also writes about the Fall Feasts of the Lord and how they are celebrating the holiday events. There is also a good list of prayer requests over the various outreach ministries of the congregation which you can get a great sense of the heart of this ministry for their community and worship of the LORD.
