WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 9/28/2016

Priority Prayer Focus Sep 28, 2016

"Blow the shofar in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the earth tremble for the day of the LORD comes, for it is near at hand"  Joel 2:1

After the Babylonian exile, the biblical Feast of Trumpets became known as Rosh Hashanah, or the Head of the Year - the civil year, not the biblical year.  Let's return our eyes to the prophetic, biblical meaning of Yom T'ruah, the Day of Blowing Shofars. Here is a video teaching on Trumpets by Asher Intrater to help us do that.

Why do we need to lift up the Israeli ministries - both the Messianic Jewish and Christian Arab? Because the spiritual warfare that is centered over the Middle East, and especially over Israel, it the most priority target in the satanic plan of this time we live in. We in the nations really have to kick it up a notch in how seriously we take what these ministries are actually doing in the plan of God for establishing His kingdom upon the throne of David in Jerusalem.  This is a sure promise that Israeli ministries have a unique connection to.  The apostle Paul said that the Church body, having shared in the spiritual blessings of the Jews, have a duty toward the believers in Israel. Paul was specifically speaking of a duty to help them financially (Romans 15:27), so how much more to uphold their holy work of sharing the gospel among the re-gathered nation of Israel? Do we get that? We owe a debt and we are called to repay it by standing with these Israeli believers in this day, in every way.

Rachel Netanel in Ein Karim, which is just outside Jerusalem, is one of the prayer letters I so look forward to reading because she is anointed to share the gospel with Israelis and I am so uplifted hearing her experiences and how she and her husband, Gilad, show great hospitality to the spiritually hungry Israelis.  This time, Rachel shared something of the pressure that is also part of being a witness of Yeshua in the Land of Israel. It just reminded me that we cannot paint so rosy a picture that the international Church fails to see how much we are needed to lift of the arms of Israeli ministries. Moses had Aaron and Hur to lift up his arms when he was weary - and the battle was dependent upon Moses' arms being held high and steady.  This is no different. I pray you will open the attached Weekly Summary and read for yourself the words of Rachel and the other ministries who need your prayers. Hear them in their own voices, and see if God is not calling you to be an Aaron and Hur to them.

If you have ever met Carolyn Hyde, a psalmist in the Galilee, then you know that she is a lady who has never met a stranger in her life. She can pick up and start talking with anyone, which is why I got a real laugh out of her saying the "Only in Israel... would you walk up to an elderly Orthodox Jew at a buffet who's piling 8 pieces of chocolate cake on his plate and say, "It's a good thing I'm not your mother," and then end up hearing his whole life story!"  That was 100% Carolyn.

The Hydes were recently in the US ministering when Carolyn took a horrible tumble down a flight of stairs and even the doctors thought her feet were fractured. But she called her husband who was visiting his sister in another part of Texas to tell him what happened, at that moment they were watching the 700 Club when Pat Robertson gave a word about a broken leg not in a cast that God was healing. When Carolyn returned to the doctor for xrays after that, the doctor was amazed that there were no fractures whatsoever. Carolyn believes God healed her and having seen the pictures of her feet on Facebook, that seems like a good call!  Read all about the many testimonies from their trip abroad inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Barry and Batya Segal of Vision for Israel and Joseph's Storehouse catch us up on their summer activities doing renovations for needy couple who are Holocaust survivors who made Aliyah from Romania in 1951. You would think that Holocaust survivors would be treated like royalty in Israel, but Israel's budget demands do not fill that need. It is a blessing that so many Israeli Messianic ministries and congregations have taken it upon themselves to step up to bless these survivors so many of whom live below the poverty line. God bless them - and you too! Give to those believers in Yeshua who are touching the lives of Holocaust survivors in the name of Yeshua.  Read all the updates from the Segal's inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

From Ben Juster, Operations Director for Tikkun Ministries, this prayer request which I am sure is echoed across the Israeli ministries: "Pray for the senior leaders and staff of the congregations and ministries as they prepare for the High Holiday services.  This can be a stressful time for leaders, as there are many visitors to the Land and conferences that also compete for their time."

Ben also commented on the Toward Jerusalem Council II meetings that were held in Jerusalem days ago: "This global initiative is purposed to foster unity among Jewish people and the Church through repentance and reconciliation, affirming God's irrevocable call for Israel and the Jewish people." Daniel Juster, who has been a part of the TJCII movement since the 1990's (which has chosen to fly under the radar over all that time) wrote on Facebook: "We recently had the best Toward Jerusalem Council II meeting in years. We had great harmony and very good plans for the future. I am rejoicing in the last week."

Ben also asks prayer for Eitan Shishkoff and the Fields of Wheat project. He has needed to travel outside of Israel more frequently than in years past in order to share this incredible vision. Pray for energy and strength for Eitan and for grace for his dear wife and family. Please request that God provide an extra measure of grace for the Ohalei Rachamim congregation during his absences. We ask that Avishalom be strengthened to shoulder the leadership of the congregation with great joy and energy. ALSO  Please pray for Guy Cohen and his family of Katzir Asher.

From Dugit and Avi Mizrachi, a short video about their recent outreach among refugees in Greece.  WATCH

A back-to-school report from the Yuval Messianic Worship Center for Music and the Arts "focused on cultivating the gifts of the students and teaching them to progress and invest in the development of their talents. We encourage them to use these gifts for the glory of God within the body of Messiah and within their community."  They write, in their report which you can access inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary  " As we begin this new year, we feel like Moses who had to lead an entire nation on a journey through sea and desert. God has called us to lead His children this year, to teach over 140 students, manage and organize our teachers, students, schedules, connections, projects and events. We definitely need a lot of wisdom and grace!  Please keep us in prayer!

Harvest of Asher congregational leader, Guy Cohen give an encouraging word about seeking God for what doors to walk through and what opportunities to accept. Read it inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary along with his prayer requests for their congregation (5th year of an after school program they conduct); financial issues for taxes on their property; some health issues of people close to them, and the joint services with Tents of Mercy network, and the Carmiel congregation who are using the HOA facilities temporarily.  See details inside.

Kehila News Israel has come out with a couple of issues since last week and we are pulling three of their articles to share here. First the director, Sandy Shoshani writes Be'ad Chaim Awarded in Knesset - Personal Note from the Director of Israel's Pro-Live Movement .  ALSO see a report on the second death threat in the past year to Two Israeli Messianic Jewish Evangelists Respond to Death Threats by Another Rabbi.  ALSO from Chaim of the Aliyah Return Center in the Galilee:  VIDEO: Stormy Galilee Sea - A Galilee Journey

Joel Jelski catches us up on his family and ministry, including "This year's ELAV conference was amazing! It was shorter than in past years, but it was really good. Heard some awesome testimonies from youth and young people who were there. My brother Matias also led a worship session which was really anointed. " See more from Joel inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Finally, we have news from the Hebrew congregation in Arad that persecution against believers is kicking up again in there Negev town with quite a history of persecuting the believers in Yeshua.  The target of the harassment is focused on the Russian-speaking congregation which holds its meetings in town. (Hasdey Yeshua, the Hebrew-speaking congregation meets outside the city in the open air of a national park.

The leader of the Russian-speaking congregation Shimon Pliner writes, "A new wave of aggression from the ultra-orthodox community is taking place now. They follow us, curse us, harass us, take endless photos of us with the flash right in our faces. They spread leaflets and put pressure on our congregants’ employers to try to have them fired. Over the past weeks it has been more and more difficult for us to have our congregational meetings because of the crowds of Chassidei Gur (the most extreme ultra-orthodox group in Arad) that are coming to the site. Although it is in the industrial area, the facility is not far from the center of the city and is easily accessible to them. They make lots of noise and try their best to disrupt the service. Every such meeting is a big trial for our congregation members. We trust in the Lord but need your prayers. Please lift up our hands!”

Read more about the antics of the ultra-Orthodox in Arad from the viewpoint of the believers who are very supportive of their Mayor of Arad who has worked to stop further takeover of the city by the ultra-Orthodox . You will find the report of the Hasdey Yeshua congregation inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Praying the Headlines

9/21/16 Ron & Elana Cantor in Tel Aviv  Messiah’s Mandate  | Obama: Israel cannot ‘permanently occupy, settle Palestinian land’ |  WATCH Ron's Rebuttal

I am really grateful for social media. When President Obama uttered these ridiculous and historically inaccurate words, I was able to quickly go to Facebook and challenge them. By morning the video had been seen over 2,600 times and shared over 100 times. Still, that is nowhere near the reach that the President has, but we do what we can.

I have studied the Israeli Palestinian conflict intensely since 1989 and the fact is that there is no such thing as Palestinian lands. Secondly, the only reason Israel controls the West Bank is because of the aggressive and billegerant actions of the surrounding nations. Had Jordan not attacked Israel during the Six-Day-War, we would never have taken the Old City of Jerusalem or the West Bank. And now that we have it as a buffer zone against our enemies why in the world would we give it back?

9/26/16  Martin Sarvis Jerusalem | OUR PRIME MINISTER IN THE U.S. | Prime Minister Netanyahu has wrapped up his trip to the U.S.  Yesterday he met with Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.  Earlier in the week, after much uncertainty as to whether it would take place, he did in fact have a short meeting with President Obama.  It seems to have been relatively cordial (pundits suggest that with the Florida primaries looming, a strongly contentious confrontation with Israel might have had a negative effect on the Clinton campaign (which the President strongly supports) there.

And on Thursday evening, Netanyahu once again addressed the UN General Assembly.  We have chosen to present the entire speech in this Update  (making it a bit longer than usual).  Not because we are in agreement with all the views therein expressed, we aren’t. But in it, the Prime Minister succeeds in skillfully bringing to light a lot of factors with which, we suspect, many of our readers will be unaware.  Factors related to Israel’s relationship with the UN, with the Palestinians, with her neighbors; factors related to Israel’s awakening and flourishing during her short modern life (a flourishing which on many fronts is blessing the world).  In fact, this document is filled with information which can enable us to intercede for Israel with more understanding and insight.

We also believe that “drawing near” to this leader through his words, may enable us better to “know” him, awakening inspiration and understanding which will help us to pray. All of Mr. Netanyahu’s positions and “solutions” will not be ours—there is illumination to which some of us have access. and which he at this time does not (James 1:5,17).  We hope that many of you will be able to find and take the time to read prayerfully through this speech in its entirety!
Rather than the transcript Martin provided, I will post the full Netanyahu UN Speech YouTube video to save space.
