WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 4/11/2018

Priority Prayer Focus Israel's Holocaust Memorial Day Issue

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12

When I started the Israelprayer Summary in 2001, it was motivated by an understanding about the Israeli ministries and the Church that I got from scripture around 1992. I saw that the apostle Paul worked really hard to get the churches he established to realize that they were indebted to the believers in Israel. Not indebted to Israel at-large, but specifically to the "hagios" the holy, or the saints, which is why I say specifically to those Israelis who have received the atonement of Yeshua.  Romans 15:26-27

This understanding of indebtedness was reinforced by Acts 11. As a former persecutor of the believers, the apostle Paul understood that Messianic believers among the Jewish people were going to need the help of believers in the nations because life was going to be more difficult for them even to make a living.

My motive for starting the Israelprayer letter was first to expose the church to the FACT of the growing body of believers in Israel, and secondarily to promote giving by the church to the Messianic congregations and ministry outreaches. I did not care who Christians sent their donations to - charismatic, non-charismatic. No matter what the diverse convictions  of Christians are, there are the same congregations and outreaches in Israel that Christians can support. That is why I did not just feature ministry leaders with the same personal convictions that I hold - far from it.

The important thing to me is ALL the believers who are doing the work of the Lord, preaching the Gospel, ministering to the lost in the name of Yeshua, reaching out with His love to their fellow Israelis, this is the important issue to me.

I believe what the apostle Paul taught the churches about their indebtedness to the material support of the Israeli ministries is just as relevant today as it was when he was going from church to church to collect the donations which he would deliver in his final trip to Jerusalem before imprisonment. the prophets warned him not to go because it would land him in chains, but Paul knew he HAD to go. Why? So we could recover the lost understanding that we are still indebted to the saints in Israel, to help them carry out their mission for the salvation of Israel.

There is a strong financial squeeze happening among the Israeli ministries currently. They need the help of Christians who recognize this indebtedness, and will respond.  -Donna Diorio, April 10, 2018

Tonight is Yom HaShoah, Israel's Holocaust Memorial Day.

Watch this Revive-Live Facebook VIDEO with Ron Cantor interviewing Asher Intrater on this Memorial in the 70th year since Israel's birth following the Holocaust.

Asher discusses the seriousness of what is happening currently  in and around Israel.

Martin Sarvis in Jerusalem writes about Israel's 70th Independence Day celebration next Thursday on April 19th —explaining why the observance is on a different date than the May 14, 1948 declaration made by Ben-Gurion.  He also talks about the 11th year of Handel's Messiah opera sung in Hebrew being performed in many cities in Israel —including a performance at the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem. Please read this and Martin's prayer points for these coming events inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Eliyahu Ben-Haim of IFI (Intercessors for Israel) in Jerusalem gives us an amazing picture of the American Consulate that will become the US Embassy in Jerusalem on May 14th. The photograph is shot from his balcony and Ben-Haim is able to provide a wonderful background that you probably haven't read anywhere else. Plus with an intercessor's eye, he shares many surrounding issues that will give us much to pray over in the days ahead. Please read inside the subscription-only, attached Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests from Israeli Ministries

My friend Sally Shiff in Kfar Saba is an intercessor and a liaison for the congregation of the Wellspring, Kehilat HaMaayan led by Tony and Orna Speranceo.  In her personal Passover email, Sally shares her testimony of coming to faith at her university campus in 1980 and how the free gift of life she received then is revisited in her during the Passover season. She writes, "I do see a parallel to what happened to me, and to what happened to the Israelites."  Thought you would be blessed to read her reflections as a Jewish believer living in Israel.

In considering the apostle Paul's statement that Israel's acceptance leads to "life from the dead," Ron Cantor writes about The Coming “Greater Riches” Revival.

Katy who writes the weekly Maoz Ministries weekly letter for Ari and Shira Sorko Ram addresses the bogus "peaceful protest" on Israel's border with Gaza - a violent, and often staged campaign orchestrated by Hamas and forced on a great many of the Palestinians participating. The news med covering the conflict are unfortunately blind as a bat in reporting what is really happening in full view of their camera lenses. Many have long sold out to Gaza in order to have front row seats at the frontlines of battle. Apparently that means more to them than the truth we are hearing daily - even from Fox News reporters on the ground.  Hopefully subscribers know they have to dig much deeper to get the facts when it comes to Israel. The news media has never been a big fan of the Jewish State.

Evan and Maala Thomas have a lot of great news in their Beit Asaph congregation in Netanya, but I want to emphasize this as a CRISIS that many of the citizen Messianic Jewish ministries are currently facing. They write, "Finances have become a bigger and bigger burden – not just to Beit Asaph, but to so many of the local Messianic and Christian congregations around the nation. A crippling cost of living and property rentals while incomes remain low (especially for new immigrants) is resulting in crisis throughout the local Body. Pray for us please! We must find solutions both in the short and longer terms. Right now we have no choice but to depend on your generosity and care. But we must also seek long-term solutions. Much can be done by raising the level of local income via education and creative endeavor. Thanks for being both an encouragement and an example to us here in the Land."

As I wrote in the opening, this is the KEY to why I began to do the Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests from Israeli Ministries. Yes, I want to raise up intercessors for Israel but intercession is both prayer and responding to their material lack. It is not just my idea, this is a major motive behind  the collections that the apostle Paul urged upon the churches and exactly why he could not be turned back from conveying those donations to Jerusalem even with prophets along the way warning him chains awaited him. Yes: we pay a price that others do not understand to do what God has led us to do for the sake of the salvation of all Israel in these days. I pray our readers catch this vision which Paul is addressing in 2 Corinthians 8:12-13 "For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have. Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality."

Revive Israel sends and article by Asher Intrater called A New Level of Prophecy "A particular type of prophecy came into being that was not fully possible until our generation. I believe God is offering a “double” prophetic anointing." There is also a video teaching by Asher on how reality is formed, and how God speaks to us today in God's Word Yesterday Today and Tomorrow

Cody Archer, Todd Westphal and Andrew Gudeon in this Revive-Live interview, in the Revive Livevideo series available on Facebook.  Also an invitation to the USA Tikkun Family Conference and link to Asher's book Alignment

Avner Boskey has yet another new article, Make war with cunning stratagems. Hint: It is about the biblical motto of Israel's national intelligence agency, the Mossad.  Also inside the Weekly Summary attachment, excerpts from the busy schedules of the Boskey's ministering at home and abroad and in their Ezekiel 37 Training Institute. (Guess who are about to become grandparents for the first time!) Mazal Tov!

We have a new update in from Lebanese pastor Najeeb and Elisabeth Atteith of the Immanuel church and Bookshop in Haifa. Najeeb is on the mend from hip replacement surgeries and able to gingerly join into involvement with their different ministries. Elisabeth has continued to operate the bookshop and is able to minister to an orthodox man calling for prayer, as well as to refugee women in Jordan. Elisabeth shares a wonderful story about their son Tino who serves in the IDF — trust me, you really want to read this inside the Weekly Summary attachment

Finally, I want to encourage you to add KehilaNews.com to your Go-To sources for news from Israel because we need to gather reliable sources as it becomes increasingly difficult to know where to place your trust in reporting.  There are more great articles and videos  you can access on KehilaNews.com this week, here are just a few.

They’re not just abusing our personal data — they’re censoring us! | Donna Diorio | Challenges to freedom of speech that affect the general population are issues that will reach critical mass within the community of faith. We also keep in mind and heart that we do not battle or pray against flesh and blood, but against evil forces and demonic entities who are common enemies."

A Jew and a Christian: How together they changed history | Shira Sorko-Ram | Shira writes, "There is not an Israeli school child anywhere in the world who has not heard of Theodore Herzl—the Father of Modern Israel. But few people—in or out of Israel—have ever heard of William Hechler."

She has had a nasogastric tube for over 2 weeks and at best it is uncomfortable but she is able to receive nutrition through it. Doctors are currently debating next course of treatment for esophageal problem. Deb is still weak, short winded, and disappointed. It is yet another hill to overcome.
